We had the good fortune of connecting with Chris Seegers and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Chris, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Our mission was to bring life back into a town that had a rich and beautiful history but had begun to fall apart. We love finding things that need new life breathed back into them. One big goal was to serve our employes, guests, visitors and neighbors in a way that provided them a richer life for having spent time with us. We describe our work as “capitalist mission work” and believe business is a fantastic platform with a tremendous amount of influence to affect positive change. We built a healthy, profitable business that could be a cornerstone of the community driven by the mission but founded in solid business principles.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
We are building a mission focused “min Koch brothers” company that focuses on purchasing and growing healthy small businesses primarily in Colorado. We allow our heart to drive us but bring the systems and business principles to channel that heart into successful, profitable endeavors that can positively impact our team, community and customers. We are in a constant battle to improve every day and create a higher value proposition with everything we learn. We plan to be a big part of the transition plan for baby boomer run businesses that need help stewarding their legacy moving forward. We are proud of our unflinching focus on profit driven by tremendous heart and value creation that can truly impact the world. Business is never easy but the reward is in the struggle and the people you surround yourself with and bless along the way.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
An early hike up the Rainbow trail with lunch in Westcliffe at one of the many delicious local restaurants. Travel to Bishop’s Castle to see one of the most unique locations in Colorado then back to Hillside, Colorado for Dark Sky Gazing in the darkest valley in the state.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My wife and I partner on everything we do in business. She is the talent and I’m the raw exuberance. Without her business savvy, design skills, and constant encouragement we wouldn’t have had the success that we’ve been blessed with. I’ve also had an amazing group of mentors/leaders that have poured into me along the way. Ultimately all glory goes to God and the people he’s placed in my path.
