We had the good fortune of connecting with Christian Jorgensen and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Christian, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Since 2005 I worked for my family’s business, and an opportunity came along that I just couldn’t ignore or resist. I could take what I learned from being at my family’s business and apply it to my very own business. Plus as a bonus this business involved every recreational activity I already did and then some! I

What should our readers know about your business?
During college I worked at the family business, but once I graduated I carved my own path. That path first led me to Community Corrections down in Denver and Boulder. After that, a year long path in Montana working at the State Prison as a Correctional Officer. In 2005 I moved back home and went back to the family business. I became over time the Purchasing Director. Then in 2022 an opportunity came across my plate to own the most successful ski/snowboard shop in Northern Colorado. After almost 41 years in business Mountain Rentals changed ownership hands over to me. Not only is is a ski/snowboard shop but a full Summer shop as well. Mountain Rentals is all about family, loyalty and providing the tools for an awesome family experience on the mountain or in the water.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Honestly one of the spots would be my back yard, as I am fortunate enough to live on a beautiful lake that we can do so many water activities all day long. My favorite restaurant in town is Betta Gumbo, and I would hit up a few breweries in town. In the winter, without a doubt it will be Hoedown Hill in Windsor for skiing/snowboarding and tubing! Raindance National Golf Course, The Beach at Raindance and The Marina at Water Valley offers so many exciting things to do.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My biggest shout out would be to my wife Jenny, without her unwavering support of not only changing my career path but a complete change in our schedules. Went from a M-F job 9-5, to almost 7 day a week job that lasted until after 7pm or longer. All three of my children regardless of age have been impacted by this, but when they visit the store the smiles and happiness all make it worth while. Last two people I would like to recognize are my parents Hans and Kathy. They have always been my biggest fan, and supported everything I have done and will continue to do.
