Meet Christina Hoffeld | Health Insurance Broker

We had the good fortune of connecting with Christina Hoffeld and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Christina, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
That’s a funny question! I am type A. There are a lot of things I can be super chill about, but most things in my life are structured, organized, systematic, and regimented. I mean, at least 6 out of 7 days a week, I eat the same breakfast every single morning.
As I began to think about what I wanted out of life for myself and my family, I kept coming back to the little nagging voice that said, Work for yourself, work for yourself. The only way I could have the life I wanted was to take control.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
In short, I am a Health Insurance Broker! I help individuals, families, and small businesses look at their options for coverage. What sets me apart is that my clients are not transactional for me. I want to help them get the coverage that suits their life and be a trusted resource for all things health insurance and beyond.
The biggest lesson I have learned about this business is listen to everyone with experience because you can learn a lot from them, but you do NOT have to take all of their words of wisdom. What works for them, might not work for you! You have to be able to decipher what will be beneficial for you! How can you take the advice of those that are more experienced and work some of those pieces of advice into your own practice? Being self aware. That is a major key to success and working in proven practices into your business.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Ohhhh, this is a good one! Well, we have a few staples for all visitors to the Mile High City and then some smaller local loves too!
First, Red Rocks is a MUST! Even if a show is sold out, we have to go to see how beautiful the space is. If we can get a show, even better! It is my favorite concert venue. I’ve never had a bad experience at Red Rocks, even with artists that are notorious for being late!
In a past life I was a chef, so all of my family and friends know food/dining will be how we schedule our days. I am a sucker for French patisserie. Two of my favorite places are in the south suburbs of the metro; Poulette Bakespop and La Belle French Bakery. They are killing the pastry game. The croissants and baguettes are exactly like the ones I had in France! The icing on top is that the bakers/owners are incredible people.
Denver has a really cool speakeasy scene too! It was unexpected when we moved here and has been a pleasant surprise. Our favorite, Green Russell was amazing, but it closed. We have a new favorite, William and Graham. It is warm and dark and the cocktail program is perfect. If you aren’t into any of the things on the menu, the mixologists are talented enough to make something special for you!
We have to walk Larimer Square and go to Union Station. The history and the way they have modernized some of the interiors of the buildings while keeping the historic integrity is incredible! Get on the scooters too, they are so much fun! It is a great way to see a lot of the city without killing your feet!
Denver also has fantastic food hall scene. I love the food hall idea because you can bring your pickiest of picky eater friends and there will most likely be something for them! I love Milk Market, Avanti, and Edgewater Public Market. You can eat around the world in one place!
If you like fancy pants, fancy but approachable, Wildflower is where to go. I had one of the best dining experiences of my life. The atmosphere is casual and warm. The food and service were level 10! It was a cravable experience!
We love Wings over the Rockies Air and Space Museum. The history and seeing all of those airplanes is so cool. We love taking friends and family through 16th Street Mall, Cherry Creek North, and RiNo. The personalities of all of those places is different but they encompass the personality of this amazing place where we live.
That’s the week I would plan, we would also find some sushi and some tacos!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Is there enough print to give recognition to all who have been part of this journey?!
First, I have to thank my husband. He fiercely believes in me. Like, truly believes I can conquer the world. Having a partner who believes in you so much is comforting, exciting, and intimidating!
Our families have also been an incredible support! They have encouraged me, stepped in when we need childcare, given us a quiet place to reset, and championed me through the ups and downs.
My friend Dan, who got me into the business, has been a wonderful mentor. He has helped answer random questions when I have them. He has been there, encouraging me to win and expand my horizons. He has almost a decade more experience to my infancy in the health insurance industry and has a wealth of knowledge. Someone who is not related to you championing your success is really powerful!
