We had the good fortune of connecting with Christina Ifurung and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Christina, every day, we about how much execution matters, but we think ideas matter as well. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
My practice was developed out of the rooting of my Filipina heritage and ancestry. When I was told by 3 “random” strangers who were intuitives that I had strong shamanic/healing blood in my energy I was like what?! I knew after the third prompt in one month there was something here for me to explore. Instinctively, I did not feel comfortable calling myself a shaman and was guided to look into what a shaman was in my culture. In my research, I found that the term I was looking for was “Babaylan”. This search sent me on a deep dive with my ancestors in uncovering a community and my elder, Leny Strobel. Through that research and the guidance of my Elder, I found Sikolohiyang Pilipino by Viriligo Enriquez. A term I discovered through his studies was “Kapwa”. A term that was dervived from Pakikipagkapwa which stands for an interconnectedness, a oneness. The concept that when we as individualizes consciously choose to open our healing in compassion we can do the same for another creating an energy of fluid connectivity. This concept is one that is not foreign to many traditions and religions. Kapwa Healing’s mission is to create safe, inviting spaces of surrender that nourish our individual journeys of healing and self discovery to eventually lead to a collective rise in vibration and frequency.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
What sets me apart from other practices is the guidance of tradition, reverence, and responsibility that is shared when I am chosen to hold space for others in their healing journeys. I am proud of how unappologetically I sit with and give acknowledgment to the sources outside of me that make the work at hand possible. I do my best to remove ego, as I know, that I am not the only one who creates the possibilities to create shifts energetically to move through difficult inner work.

I would say that the ease comes when you, yourself as a practitioner, does the work first! You cannot step in places of shadow work and trauma experiences without seeing and being familiar with your own first. Too many pracititioners allow themselves to hold space for others without knowing their own shadows which further causes a “bleeding” of their own issues onto others.

What I have learned is that there is no need to chase what is meant for you. I trust in Spirit full heartedly and that every person that is lead to the practice is done by intention of something so much bigger than me. I trust in the timing and allowance of growth to happen as it reaches those that feel called to sit with themselves and their own heart, mind, body and spirit.

I understand that my services and offerings are not for everyone and that’s ok, but I can promise you that if you are led to be with us in your journey, the purpose is great and it is not on accident.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If I were to have a bestie come into town my favorite things to do would be to 1) Cook authentic Filipino food in my own kitchen! I would take them to the Indian Hot Springs. I also enjoy a walk around the Evergreen lake or drive them up to Dillon Lake and spend a couple days in the mountains hiking and checking out quaint local restaurant spots.

In town, I would definitely take them to Sarap Coffee and then dim sum at Star Kitchen.

I don’t really drink, but if my bestie wanted to get one I would definitely go to the Welton Room.

For activities I would take her to a yoga class at Urban Sanctuary and also make sure if she wanted an energy session with me while she was in town to get her in. I would also get her in to do a partnered personal training workout with my husband, Caleb Duckwiler (haha yes I would make my friend workout on her vacation lol). We both would deserve some pampering so I would also book us a massage with my favorite massage therapist Vanessa Pacheco at My Soul Massage.

There is the cutest crystal metaphysical stores: Alchemy Ritual Goods and Crystal CommuniTea Shop.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Yes!!! I am about crediting those that have helped support my own journey because without them I would not be where I am or be nurtured into my gifts:
