We had the good fortune of connecting with Christina Johnson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Christina, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I’ve always wanted to have my own business. Something that I could call my own. Something I can be proud of representing. I love capturing moments that turn into memories. I specialize in nature and landscape photography. I believe the most beautiful thing in the world is a sunset. It’s a peaceful moment and is absolutely stunning. I also do family portraits and love to photograph children at play.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I started my my business when I was in my early twenties. I did it for a while then set it down due to having a baby and other things life had planned for me. I am now back in business, and ready to go. Christina Leigh Photography has been more successful now than before. I am super proud of myself and all of my accomplishments. It hasn’t been easy, in fact, it’s been very difficult lately due to my recent car wreck. Four months ago, I was hit head-on by a drunk driver leaving me with multiple broken bones and currently undergoing physical therapy. I believe in myself and in my recovery. Part of the foundation of my business is sharing my past, to show others that no matter what life goes on and you can overcome anything.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend were to visit Lake Charles, we would have a marvelous time. It used to be a small town but has expanded quite a bit in the last decade. First, we would go to the boardwalk at the civic center. There is a beautiful view of the Calcasieu River, especially during sunset hours. We would go eat at one of the many restaurants that this place has to offer. We have cajun, Mexican, soul, Mediterranean, along with oriental cuisine around here. The creole nature trail is one of the best tourist sites, it’s only thirty minutes from the Gulf of Mexico. After all of this, we can always go visit one of the casinos for entertainment where they host parties and concerts, regularly. This is a sportsman’s paradise: fishing, hunting, and outdoor fun are what we are all about.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to dedicate my shoutout to my boyfriend, Lucas. He has always encouraged me to take the leap and go big. He helps me get past my doubts and my insecurities. I wouldn’t be where I’m at today without him.
