We had the good fortune of connecting with Christine FitzGerald and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Christine, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
My business partner, Madison Waggoner, and I are both are passionate about Ayurveda, and helping others learn more about this ancient, healing wisdom.
During a time when most of us are operating at high-speeds and often do not make time to prioritize our health, it’s easy to grab whatever food is closest and most convenient. Unfortunately that often means fast or highly-processed food. We may not all have time to prepare nutrient-dense scratch-cooked food, but we know our bodies need it!
We started this business to give Coloradans an opportunity to eat well and nourish their bodies, even when life gets busy.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Homecooked Hygge offers not just a healthy Ayurvedic meal delivery service, but an opportunity to slow down and reconnect with ourselves. It provides nourishment by using organic ingredients from local farms in Colorado; conscious chefs who infuse love and healing energy into every meal; a sustainable path for the planet’s future by offering subscription-based model with reusable glassware or compostable containers for one-time orders. We are currently delivering meals in Denver, Boulder and all the towns in between, and offer a plant-forward menu that rotates weekly and by season.
Many restaurants cut corners on ingredients and materials. We are proud of sticking to our commitment to making this a sustainable business, and helping to reimagine what “healthy” looks like in our modern world. The quality of our ingredients is of the utmost importance to us. We’ve learned that our customers agree, and are excited about making choices that align with their values (and ours!). We believe in weighing impact against all decisions, and are confident that the impact of this business will be substantial to our local communities.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
The beauty about visiting Colorado is that there is no shortage of places to go! Spend plenty of time outdoors in Rocky Mountain National Park or Garden of the Gods. Have tea at Dushanbe Tea House in Boulder. Bike or walk along sections of the High Line Canal and relax in the Botanic Gardens. Enjoy a yoga class at White Lotus, and get a massage with Mountain Meadow Therapeutics in Golden. Explore the market at the landmark Union Station, and stop in RiNo to enjoy creative culinary experiences.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
To my teachers for inspiring me to answer the call of Ayurveda, particularly Dawn, Shakthi and Divya
