Meet Christy Belz | Women’s Empowerment Coach

We had the good fortune of connecting with Christy Belz and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Christy, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
What sets me apart from other women empowerment coaches is my authenticity and vulnerability. I am most proud of my ability to be heart-centered in my practice and to go with the flow of my work. Because of my life challenges, there are a few people that I cannot personally relate to. I am an open book so others realize they are not alone. We all suffer.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I came from humble beginnings with a lot of trauma. As I entered my early adult years I threw myself into work selling advertising and became quite successful at a young age. Yet, I was not happy. I decided to quit my lucrative career to put myself through college to become a social worker. People thought I was crazy. After completing my undergraduate degree and working for a few years, my resources had dwindled and I needed to find a better-paying job. I went back into sales. A man I had known for many years reentered my life and I decided to move to Denver where he lived. We married and started a family.
When I knew I was pregnant, I decided to pursue graduate school. I started six months pregnant with my son. After graduate school, I went to work for one of my professors. She had started a not-for-profit organization supporting women with low incomes moving from welfare to work. I headed a mentoring program and did direct counseling, group work, and public policy advocacy. After 6 years, I was burnt out. I decided to leave and go home to be a full-time mom to my then 6-year-old son. Life had other plans.
My coaching and consulting practice grew organically over the years. I still work with some individuals and a few large organizations but have turned my attention to promoting my recent book “Oh God of Second Chances Here I Am Again” and teaching a course I created called UPROOT – Your Ultimate Potential in Relationships, work, and Organizations, Opportunities, and Transformations.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’d start at City Park, it has the best view of the lake, city, and mountains! It’s the best place to walk but keep an eye out for eagles! After a morning walk, I’d go to Syrup for breakfast (you can’t go wrong with ANYTHING on the menu!). After breakfast, we’d go to Cherry Creek North for some shopping and hit up some boutiques there like Mirielle’s, Michael Moore’s makeup shop (ask for Michael! He’s the best!). After being outside for a bit, we’d hit the mall since it has some great stores inside and is the #1 tourist attraction in the city. For lunch, we’d head downtown and go to the Dairy Block to dine and walk over to the historic Union Station and enjoy an aperol spritz outside at Stoic & Genuine for some people watching. Ice cream is a must at Milkbox (salted caramel cookie is the best!) and visit Tattered Cover inside the Union Station. Take a nap at Union Station until our dinner reservation at Tavernetta. After dinner, head to Cooper Lounge for an after-dinner drink and get a good night’s sleep.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I have several certifications including both my undergraduate and master’s degrees in Social Work, Heart Math, Brene Brown’s Dare to Lead, Clarity International, and The Leadership Circle and System. I specialize in using my tools and trusting my intuition to support the ultimate potential in each of my clients. I help individuals and organizations to utilize their full potential – personally, professionally, and spiritually.
