Meet Clover Street | Owner/Operator

We had the good fortune of connecting with Clover Street and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Clover, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I love working with dogs. Whether it’s a police dog or personal pet, i truly enjoy developing relationships between handler/owner and canine. Problem solving and showing folks how to effectively communicate with their dog turned into a passion.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Oh man, well I am super passionate about helping these animals grow. Whether they are timid or are suffering from a lack of exposure to various environments or training scenarios, I want to help. I give all of myself to these dogs to ensure success. Professionally, I became a sponge soaking up knowledge from industry greats, traveling to seminars, working with mentors, and getting in front of a lot of dogs. I logged so many miles on my truck traveling all over the country and away from home. At times it was difficult, but I knew I’d be able to see success and growth if I kept chipping away. I chose to not stay stagnant. I chose to remain humble. And remember that no two dogs are the same so the training methodology would have to adapt. Our brand message for MarathonK9 Academy is “we go the distance for you and your dog.” It’s the truth. I want to give the very best of me to each person that chooses to work with MarathonK9 Academy.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Oh we are definitely going to Red Rocks to see a show. Probably have a meal or two at Denver Biscuit Company and Brutal Poodle. We would most definitely catch an Avalanche game if we are in season and relax over at Washington Park.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Honestly I owe the start of my business to not just a person, but to a dog as well. Sergeant Dan Lyon and Military Working Dog Zeno (RIP). We first met when they returned from their deployment while I was working at the military veterinary clinic. Dan was kind enough to speak on his time as a handler and his partnership with Zeno, a German Shepherd, trained in patrol and explosives detection.
