We had the good fortune of connecting with Coastless Creatives and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Coastless, how do you think about risk?
We think about risk as a bi product of progress. Any time you decide to move to a new place in your career or your life you face challenges. Even when you move to a new home, that change involves the risk of your stuff breaking, the movers costing you too much etc. But when you move houses you aren’t focused on the risk taking, you’re focused on finding a better home. This is how we approach risk taking. We want to move this company forward to places it hasn’t been and to better places that will help the music community the best that it can. To move to this new place has risk and uncertainty built into it. Risk is something that exists when you are entering unfamiliar territory. We embrace the risk that comes with our decision making with open arms as a sign that we are being vulnerable enough to try something new that could bring us a lot of success.
The fact is, is that risk is there even if you aren’t conscientiously aware of it or engaging with it. There’s risk in everything, recognizing it and the fear it brings while simultaneously putting your best foot forward is what makes this industry so exciting.
Risk brings excitement and intern joy to the process of life. Everything is temporary, including the pain of failure, leave fear to the wayside and be true in your intentions, the rest is out of your control.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
It took an incredible amount of work to get Coastless Creatives to where it is today. Even the small amount of success we have took everything in our power to make happen. You face lots of unique challenges in this industry and a lot of them change the way you see the world. We’ve had friends lost over disagreements, shows fall apart due to covid, and countless sleepless nights trying to get every part of this machine to work. The first 6 months were hell to put it plainly and now we are finally in a place where we have enough stability to move forward. Determination is a tool and is needed to make sh*t happen but, What we learned from working ourselves to death to make this happen is that you need sleep, good food, and self care to have the best energy to put into whatever project you’re creating. If you don’t put that first it creates suffering, and when you’re suffering it doesn’t matter how much money you make or notoriety you have.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
