Meet Colton Simmons | Owner of LoCOl Paint

We had the good fortune of connecting with Colton Simmons and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Colton, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
Caring, simply caring is the most important thing we ever did. This is the framework of everything we do. When you care you want to improve, you align yourself with the client and want the same outcome. When you care you retain wonderful people and enjoy those that you care about. We care about our people, care about the customer experience, care about the quality of the final project. This also allows us to stay in our lane. It’s so tempting to take on additional work that’s out side our core competencies but since we care we just say, that’s not what we do I’m sorry, I can give a recommendation to X,Y and Z. This has saved us from not delivering on our promises.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Our company started because my brother Chad seen my mom and his brother in law working side jobs to get by. He looked and said I have to create something to take care of my family and provide jobs. Because he had the courage to spend a year researching and planning before launching LoCOl Paint we are here today. He worked a full time job and painted his first few projects after work sometimes working all through the night not sleeping and going to his day job in the morning. He brought me in about a year and a half into the company and I partnered and helped scale. Without his dedication and drive to give back to his family and provide none of us would be here. Now we do more then 1000 estimates a year and paint about 500 houses. The best part is we get to serve the incredible community we grew up in.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I love Colorado, I could spend all day recommending places to see but here are some of my favorites. No one is allowed to come visit with out a hike through the garden of the gods, we had the opportunity to paint the visitor center last year and we love to point that out to any guests visiting. We then would visit 7 falls, the Cheyenne mountain zoo, pikes peak. After knocking out the most important places in the springs we can take a few days to drive to our mountain towns! Breckenridge is our family favorite. Then we can go to Red rocks for a concert stay downtown somewhere near Coors field. Where we can enjoy McGreggor square and the milk market!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My mother is the single greatest human that god has ever made. She raised me and my 4 biological siblings, 1 adopted sister and 2 that I consider family. She did that with very little money but unlimited love! She is the most selfless, honest, caring wonderful person you will ever meet. She works hard and went years without buying herself clothes because all that mattered was us kids being taken care of! She always said we are rich because of the love we have not the money in our bank accounts and it’s something that rings true for all of my brothers and sisters and myself.
