We had the good fortune of connecting with Conni Lovelace and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Conni, can you talk to us a bit about the social impact of your business?
Imagine stepping into a space that not only reflects your unique personality but also supports local artisans, promotes sustainability, and contributes to meaningful causes. That’s the essence of what I, as an interior designer, strive to achieve with my business.

**Community Engagement:** When you work with me, you’re not just getting a design service; you’re becoming part of a community that values craftsmanship and supports small businesses. From collaborating with local artisans to sourcing unique pieces from talented craftsmen, I take pride in weaving their stories and creations into your space, creating a truly personalized and authentic environment. By doing so, we not only enhance your space but also contribute to the growth and vitality of local economies.

**Sustainability:** Sustainability isn’t just a buzzword for me—it’s a guiding principle in everything I do. I prioritize using eco-friendly materials and seek out high-quality or vintage pieces that stand the test of time. By investing in quality over quantity, we not only create spaces that are beautiful and functional but also minimize our environmental footprint. I steer clear of mass-produced, low-quality items from big box stores—I’m all about supporting artisans who are committed to sustainability and ethical practices. I believe in building or doing it right the first time so it can stand the test of time, creating something worthy and lasting. My aim is to leave spaces better than how I found them, promoting sustainability and long-term value.

**Philanthropy:** Giving back is at the core of my business ethos. Whether it’s lending my expertise—I’m currently involved as a set decorator for a local short-film project—or supporting charitable causes focused on design, housing, and animal welfare, I’m dedicated to making a positive impact beyond just aesthetics. As a fervent animal lover, I’m particularly passionate about supporting initiatives like The American Wild Horse Conservation, because I believe in using my platform to advocate for those who can’t speak for themselves.

In essence, my goal isn’t just to create beautiful spaces—it’s to create spaces that uplift, inspire, and make a difference. By choosing to work with me, you’re not only investing in a stunning design; you’re also contributing to a more sustainable, inclusive, and socially responsible world. I enjoy creating something meaningful together with clients.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My business is built on the foundation of passion, creativity, and a commitment to making a positive impact in the world of design. What sets me apart from others is my dedication to fostering meaningful connections with clients and collaborators, as well as my unwavering commitment to sustainability, inclusivity, and social responsibility in design.

I’m most proud of the relationships I’ve cultivated with my clients and the trust they place in me to transform their spaces into reflections of their unique personalities and lifestyles. I’m excited about the opportunity to continue pushing the boundaries of design, incorporating new techniques, materials, and technologies to create spaces that are not only beautiful but also functional and sustainable.

My journey to where I am today hasn’t been easy post Covid. I’ve faced challenges along the way, from navigating the complexities of the design industry to balancing the demands of running a business with personal commitments. However, I’ve overcome these challenges by staying true to my values, seeking support from mentors and peers, and continuously learning and adapting to new circumstances.

The lessons I’ve learned along the way are invaluable. I’ve learned the importance of perseverance, resilience, and staying true to my vision, even when faced with obstacles. I’ve learned to embrace failure as an opportunity for growth and to always prioritize authenticity and integrity in my work.

What I want the world to know about me and my brand is that we’re more than just designers—we’re storytellers, dreamers, and changemakers. Our mission goes beyond creating beautiful spaces; it’s about making a positive impact on people’s lives and the world around us. We believe in the power of design to inspire, uplift, and bring people together, and we’re committed to using our platform to create spaces that are not only aesthetically pleasing but also socially conscious and environmentally sustainable.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Denver is practically begging to be explored, especially on foot. With every step, you’ll uncover a bit of its intriguing past and vibrant present. Don’t forget to dress in layers, slip on comfortable sneakers, grab those sunnies, and stay hydrated in the mile-high city. Uber/Lyfts and bikes are easily accessible too! Each neighborhood in Denver is a special pocket, with its own unique personality, featuring local boutiques and cozy coffee shops. So, here’s my quick rundown for exploring Denver!

Let’s start our journey in Downtown Denver by casually strolling through Civic Center Park and Capitol Hill. Every leafy street whispers tales of the city’s history. Then, we’ll immerse in art and architecture at the Denver Art Museum before grabbing a bite at Pints Pub. After that, let’s indulge in the serenity of the Clifford Still Museum. And to cap off the day, savor some genuine Italian or Cuban flavors at Lo Stella Ristorante or Cuba Cuba.

On another day, we’ll venture into Cherry Creek’s shopping haven. We’ll take in the scenic views along Speer Blvd and explore unique shops like Homebody. Lunch will be a treat at Cucina Colore or Little Ollies, followed by a leisurely stroll through Denver Botanic Gardens. After, we’ll grab a cocktail stop at Ay Papi before dinner at Hillstone or Cherry Creek Grill.

We’ll definitely set aside a day to immerse ourselves in the cosmopolitan vibes of Union Station and the Dairy Block. Then, meander through Larimer Square for some historic charm and more shopping. We can explore the funky black building hosting the Contemporary Art Museum. Afterwards, we’ll watch kayakers tackle the rapids in the Platte River and visit REI’s stunning flagship store nestled inside a Tramway building. Following that, we’ll venture over I-25 on the Highland Bridge for more boutique shops, step hills, and dining options like Uncle. Alternatively, we can head back to the city side and unwind on a blanket in Confluence Park with some Little Man Ice Cream while soaking in the city skyline.

I definitely won’t let a friend leave without experiencing the urban art scene in the vibrant RiNo District! We’ll explore local art galleries and studios, maybe even take a Denver Graffiti Tour. Afterward, we can check out Modern Nomad, Wright Studio or unique design pieces at Studio Como. For dining and drinks, The Ramble or Barcelona are great staples, or we can go upscale at Il Posto.

Of course, we can’t overlook the parks! Wash Park is a visual feast of athletic people, perfect for a jog in your cutest workout gear. Then there’s City Park and Cheesman Park, each with its own charm. But Sloan’s Lake holds a special place in my heart with its mesmerizing views of the Rockies.

I wouldn’t be a true friend if I didn’t make you tackle those morning stairs at Red Rocks! It’s a workout like no other, and on weekends, we could catch a yoga session amidst the beauty of our mountain city.

What truly sets Denver apart is its people. Engaging in meaningful conversations, surrounded by endless opportunities and natural beauty, in a place that prioritizes health and fresh air – it’s an experience like no other!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My design journey has been a whirlwind of creativity, sleepless nights, laughter, and unwavering support from the incredible people in my life. Foremost among them is my ever-tolerant husband, who not only embraces but encourages my constant need to tweak and rearrange everything. His support has been invaluable as I’ve navigated the twists and turns of the design world.

Equally instrumental has been my original cheerleader, my mother, who has fueled my design drive with boundless opportunities to let my imagination run wild. Her unwavering belief in my abilities has been a constant source of inspiration.

I’m also fortunate to have a supportive extended family who not only appreciate my design services but also provide invaluable opportunities to expand my portfolio. Additionally, my mentor, Melinda Douglas, has been a guiding light, shaping not just my design skills but also my approach and demeanor with clients.

My friends have been my sounding board and biggest fans, allowing me to share my experiences and expertise with them. Collaborating with fellow designers has been a joyous journey filled with shared insights, sources, and the occasional design dilemma that we tackle together.

And then there are my clients—my design superheroes! Their trust in my vision and willingness to invite me into their homes and lives have been the cornerstone of my career. From witnessing their families grow and change to sharing personal moments, they have truly made my job a labor of love.

To all the remarkable individuals who have made my design dreams a reality, including my dedicated team who brings everything to life in the homes, I’m beyond grateful for their unwavering support, endless encouragement, and occasional eye rolls at my constant need to rearrange every bookcase! Their belief in me, trust in my vision, and commitment to making every design project a joyful journey have been the driving forces behind my success.
