We had the good fortune of connecting with Corey Dice Overton and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Corey Dice, have you ever found yourself in a spot where you had to decide whether to give up or keep going? How did you make the choice?
Well with me, giving up is way out of the question. It’s just not in my DNA. I’ve been doing music for well over 10 years so giving up is not an option. I mean if your doing something that’s not profitable, is not your passion, or you don’t have a passion for it then yes your waisting your time and money; if your putting anything into it. Then yes you might wanna rethink things. But then again still don’t give up. Success could happen in a day, and in some cases in a minute. So you can’t throw away something you’ve worked so hard for because, who knows in that next day or minute you could become a millionaire or your business takes off! So I say “NEVER GIVE UP”! Just try a different approach, keep the faith and let God work.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Musics my life yea I live and die for it. She said if I get focused I’ll be in and out of foreigns.! My work is music and what sets me apart from others is that my music is real. Real life stories and tales about what I’ve been threw, what’s going on in the world, and where I’m headed, I’ve been a little upset with myself because of how I prolonged my greatness. But, I’m excited that I did because I was able to prepare myself to not just make and impact but to be consistent while doing so. I have over 150 songs and that’s not counting the mixtape and promo content that I have and already started putting out. So when I finally get the worlds attention it will never stop!
I got to where I’m at professionally from hard work, dedication, and the will to never give up! It wasn’t easy, it never is, but once you gain that mentality of I won’t stop and I can’t stop. You will overcome any challenges that come your way and be well prepared for it. ❤️

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Well I live in New York now so we would start in soho for some shopping and brunch. Then on to 34th street in midtown for a little more shopping. Then we would head to Harlem to have an early dinner at Ricardo’s, very nice upscale restaurant. Once we’re done we’ll go get freshened up to hit the night life! You see New York never sleeps so our first stop would be the infamous 42nd Street, (home of the Rocking New Years Eve party) to see the lights and the world famous red stairs of the big apple. Finally to end the night off we’d head to one of the top nightclubs in the Bronx, Salsa Con Fuego! Yeah you guessed it then it’s bedtime. (Smile)

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Well theres a few people that deserves credit for my still developing success. Starting with the most important one; Douglas Scullark (cousin). He’s the one who actually put me on the path to my life changing experience. He always recognized my talents from basketball to rapping. And like my story I shared with you before he’s the one that took me to Sacramento California after almost going to jail for a long time to put me in the position to win. The second is Deon Taylor. Owner of the one of top independent film companies in the film industry Hidden Empire Film Group. Known for movies from meet the blacks 1&2 to the latest Fear and many others before and after. Threw my cousin he helped me to get closer to my dreams from basketball to music. I owe a lot to them. They opened my eyes to see I have way more potential then to take over the streets and limiting myself to dying or going to jail for the rest of my life. Even though our relationships has gone a bit astray, I still owe it to them for opening my mind and showing me there’s more to life than the streets. Threw that I landed myself in movies from Tyler Perry’s Boo #1 to Alleyezonme the Tupac movie etc. I’m so great full to them no matter the circumstances now, and they will always be my hero’s for what they’ve done for me.
