We had the good fortune of connecting with Corinna Peters and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Corinna, what makes you happy? Why?
First and foremost, I love my relationship with Jesus.

Second – Dogs! Dogs are incredible little being and the amount of joy I have just spending time with them, fostering, rescuing, and hanging out genuinely brings me so much joy.

Third – Serving others. I feel joy when serving others, even if that means my plans or my day changed to help out. It makes me happy when others around me are happy as well, or if someone is down and just needs a friend or a person to sit there with them where they’re at.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
There are so many hats that I wear in a week. By day, I am a professional Sr. Project Manager for timekeeping/HR software (very exciting…). While it genuinely isn’t the most exciting thing I’ve ever done, I’ve met some incredible business men and women along the way

Separately, I started guiding hunts a few years back after my divorce. It was an incredible way to continue doing what I loved, meet new like minded friends, and get out of my own head. At first it was challenging since I was a young, divorced woman trying to make a name for myself as a bird guide, but I was accepted with open arms by most everyone I guided – young, old, men, & women.

I’ve learned to not judge anyone based off of previous experiences with others. Everyone is unique in their own ways and deserves respect out of the gate.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Well we’d start by making a fire and BBQing on my deck and shooting some clays out back. My home is a small 500 sq ft space with a huge deck on 40 acres, so it’s a nice place to just relax, shoot the shit and spend some uninterrupted time together.

Then, we’d probably make our way to the local mexican restaurant … well, the only restaurant, in my town, or grab a latte from the only coffee shop in my town.

Eventually we’d make it out to Kiowa Creek Sporting Clays to shoot clays, hunt, chit chat with the ladies at the front, and maybe grab a bite to eat in Southlands. We’d definitely avoid the mountains and downtown Denver since I’m more of an eastern plains type of gal!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to shout out the majority of the hunting and outdoor world! I’ve been to so many shows and met some incredible people along the way (Backcountry BC & Beyond, The Bluffs, Kiowa Creek Sporting Club) that have only enhanced my knowledge and respect for what they and others do in the field. Relative to some outfitters/guides, I’m a novice but I’ve been welcomed by so many to have a seat at the table with them.

There are a few bird guides who let me follow them around like a puppy when I first started out, a couple of dog trainers who taught me how to field train my pups, and lots of friends who have supported this journey.
