We had the good fortune of connecting with Cory Herschk and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Cory, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
We wanted a program that will focus on the major three aspects of growing the sport of ball hockey:

1. Education
2. Accountability
3. Application to enter into the Olympics

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’m a 17-year., third-grade math teacher in the Pittsburgh Public School District by day. I’m a full time and dedicated husband and father of two 24/7. Playing and coaching hockey has always been a hobby that’s given me a chance to see the world and an opportunity to change the lives of others. Balancing the juggle and getting ample rest have been the keys to my own personal drive and focus. These take work to put into routine. With the support from my incredible wife, she’s backed me on helping to make sure ball hockey is a well known sport in America.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
In Pittsburgh, during this current season, I’d take any guest on a brunch at the Grand Concourse at Station Square, followed by an incline ride to the top of Mt. Washington where we could view the city. We’d walk around the Strip District and have Mike and Tony’s gyros for a dinner before heading to catch either a Pittsburgh Penguins or Pittsburgh Steelers game. We’d be exhausted after a day like that.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Our sport is over 50-years old now, and there have been many pioneers who’ve paved the way such as Chris Housser and Mark Madden to name a few. Currently, we are on the proper trajectory to achieve our goals due to volunteer/elected board members such as Chris Banks, Tom Ruiz, Don Gregory, Alessandra Glista, Mike DeFazio & Chris Sperry, plus more than 90 other volunteers across our county.
