We had the good fortune of connecting with Courtney Therrien and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Courtney, is your business focused on helping the community? If so, how?
Right now people are uncertain, stressed, depressed, and worried. There is so much going on mentally with people all around the world due to the pandemic. Now more than ever my job means so much more than just physical appearance. Working with a trainer gives individuals the confidence and strength to feel overall better. Physical activity and healthy habits are major contributors to mental health. I do not only focus on workouts with my clients, but all other aspects of their health (mental, emotional, spiritual, social environmental and physical). For my clients coming into the studio to train, or taking time to workout online with me is a break from the craziness of the world to destress and truly focus on themselves.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I started Coach Court Wellness in May, 2020 with a goal to encourage people to train hard and feel strong, no matter their fitness level. To me, there is no better feeling than watching a client perform a movement they once said they couldn’t do, or get their first push up! As a coach and trainer I focus on my clients as individuals and personalize every program to fit them and do not believe in cookie cutter programs because everyBODY is different. Rather than providing clients just a program, when you sign up with Coach Court Wellness you get habit change coaching and nutrition coaching to help learn healthy habits that are for a life time, no quick fixes, because they simply don’t work. I still have a long way to as I build my business, I always will, and it will always be difficult, but I am learning so much more from starting my own business than I would if I was working for someone else. Along this journey, I have learned to be patient with myself and others, to be consistent in what I do and to find a chance to grow with every experience. I want people to know that you can weight train at any age and stage of your life, and that they are so much stronger than they think they are, just have the confidence and do it, you got this!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
This is a difficult question for me because I just recently moved to Denver during the Pandemic so I have not had much time to explore. Golden is definitely my favorite place in this area to visit, But I would take them to Fort Collins, where I graduated College. We would have lunch at Music City Hot Chicken, hike around Horsetooth and walk around Old Town Fort Collins. A few of my other favorite Colorado places are Estes park, I love watching the Elk, and Buena Vista area. I also enjoy watching racing, so if it were summer I would take them to Colorado National Speedway for some small town racing.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Every one of my clients, previous and current have had a major impact on my professional and personal development. I have learned something and grown from each client I have ever trainer, whether it was one session, for 1 year. Since day 1 my mother has been my biggest cheerleader, from encouraging me to sign up for the certified personal trainer course, to driving me to my exam, being my very first client and promoting my business she has been amazing!
