Meet Crystal Asplund | Astrologer and lash artist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Crystal Asplund and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Crystal, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I originally started my business just doing lash extensions. But I’ve always had an interest in astrology and I studied it and was involved in a group called association for young astrologers. I would talk to my clients about astrology often and I noticed they were very interested in knowing more about astrology and getting a reading. I realized during the 60-90 minutes they were already there for their lash appointment was a perfect time to also look at their astrology chart and talk about what was going on. This is what made me decide to add astrology readings to my current business. It just kind of evolved naturally and my clients requested it.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I’m a self employed business owner and have owned my business for the past 7 years. I was a psychology major before I became a licensed cosmetologist. I have been in the beauty industry for 18 years now and really enjoy making people look and feel beautiful. Everyone looks forward to their appointment with me since they know they will look and feel better afterwards. I love that now I get to help people on more of an internal level and not just on a superficial level with adding the astrology element to my business. And hopefully I can be a role model to others out there who are entrepreneurs and have passions or talents that they can add to what they are currently doing, but are maybe afraid that it’s too weird or not mainstream enough. I would like to encourage other business owners or entrepreneurs to be true to themselves and be authentic. You may be surprised at the outcome and how many people are open to your unique or different business model. I got to where I am now by taking risks and also taking chances and continuing education and investing in myself.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Some of my favorite spots when we are in the city of Denver are the buell theater we love catching a show and having dinner downtown. Or heading to a sporting event at the ball arena or coors field.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My fiancé Taylor really encouraged me to add astrology readings to my menu and believed in me. He also paid for my astrology certification course. I knew my business concept was out there and kind of unique and I didn’t know how it would be received by the public, but he helped encourage me to do it anyway.
