Meet Crystal Young

We had the good fortune of connecting with Crystal Young and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Crystal, is your business focused on helping the community? If so, how?
Temple Events brings a piece of history to the Montrose Community. It is a historic place to get married, host events, take dance lessons, have a party, or hear live music.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
The Temple Events is more than just a venue—it’s an experience rooted in history, elegance, and community. Located in the heart of Montrose, Colorado, The Temple is a beautifully restored 1920s-themed wedding and events venue housed in a neoclassical building originally constructed in 1911. With its rich architectural detail and historical charm, it has become a destination for people across Colorado seeking a truly unique setting for their special moments.
What sets us apart is not just the stunning space—complete with a stained-glass ceiling in the ballroom, soaring windows, and a curated art gallery—but the feeling people get when they walk through our doors. There’s a sense of awe, warmth, and history that you can’t replicate. I’m incredibly proud of how we’ve transformed The Temple into one of the most sought-after event spaces in the region, especially considering that before we took ownership, it was relatively unknown.
The journey to get here hasn’t been easy. Breathing new life into a 100+ year-old building came with countless challenges—from renovations and maintenance to building a reputation from the ground up. But I overcame those hurdles through sheer perseverance, community support, and a deep belief in the vision of what this space could become.
Along the way, I’ve learned that success in business takes consistency, adaptability, and heart. You have to be willing to work through the setbacks, listen to your audience, and never stop refining your purpose.
What I want the world to know is that The Temple Events is more than a business—it’s a labor of love, a piece of history brought back to life, and a place where memories are made. Whether it’s a wedding, concert, fundraiser, or gallery event, we strive to create meaningful experiences that leave a lasting impression.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend were visiting Montrose for a week, I’d make sure they had the absolute best experience soaking in all the charm, flavor, and adventure our area has to offer. Here’s what our ideal week would look like:
Day 1 – Welcome & Fine Dining
We’d kick things off with a delicious dinner at The Stone House, known for its cozy atmosphere and top-notch steaks. If they’re craving authentic Mexican food, Amelia’s Hacienda never disappoints. For classic comfort food, Ray’s Corner Restaurant is a must. We’d wrap up the evening with craft cocktails at Storm King Distilling, or if we’re feeling more relaxed, we might head to Wild Horse Saloon for some live music and a drink.
Day 2 – Self-Care & Pampering
A visit to Soak by Deborah Combs would be first on our list—Deborah gives the best facials I’ve ever had. After that, we’d go see Christi, my go-to massage therapist, for an unforgettable deep tissue massage. These two are the perfect duo for a rejuvenating wellness day.
Day 3 – Outdoor Adventures
We’d take a peaceful hike around Chipeta Lake or spend time exploring the scenic Riverbottom Park trails. It’s the perfect way to experience the natural beauty Montrose has to offer, especially in the evening when the sun starts to set.
Day 4 – Telluride Day Trip
A day in Telluride is a must! We’d ride the gondola between Telluride and Mountain Village for breathtaking views. Whether we hit the slopes for skiing or just stroll around enjoying the charming shops and cafes, Telluride is always magical.
Day 5 – Hot Springs Getaway
We’d head to Ouray, often called the “Switzerland of America.” We’d soak in the Ouray Hot Springs, or if we’re looking for something more tranquil and natural, we’d visit Orvis Hot Springs, where swimsuits are optional. For a unique and cozy experience, the Wiesbaden Hot Springs & Vapor Caves are incredible and deeply relaxing.
Day 6 – Local Exploration
We’d wander downtown Montrose, exploring local boutiques, art galleries, and maybe catch a show or concert at The Temple Events. Later, we’d enjoy dinner at Ted’s Steakhouse, followed by craft spirits at Shelter Distilling.
Day 7 – Relax & Reflect
On our last day, we’d keep it simple. Maybe brunch at a local café, followed by one last stroll through nature or another visit to a favorite spot from the week. Just soaking in the laid-back, welcoming energy of Montrose.
Montrose is full of hidden gems, incredible people, and a real sense of community—and that’s what I’d want my best friend to remember most.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Yes, absolutely! I’d like to give a heartfelt shout-out to my husband, Jerrod Young, who continually goes above and beyond to support me in everything we do at The Temple Events. I’m also incredibly grateful for my son and daughter-in-law, Jeremiah and Adrianna Bishop—they work tirelessly by my side, day and night, to ensure every event runs smoothly and beautifully.
And a very special recognition goes to Sandy Head, who has been my mentor since I was 17. Sandy has played a profound role in shaping the woman I am today. Her grace, poise, and business success have served as a powerful and lasting example of what it means to lead with integrity and strength.
