We had the good fortune of connecting with Daja Herrera and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Daja, as a parent, what do you feel is the most meaningful thing you’ve done for them?
I believe what I am doing as both a female & hispanic business owner/entrepreneur, is showing my children that we can do anything we put our minds and hard work into. I want my son to know that he can take his talents and skills and turn them into something BIG, something that can make his dreams come true. I want my daughter to know that she can do it ALL, that she too can shatter glass ceilings, that she controls her future and her dreams. Its not an easy path, but it won’t stop me and I will continue to build something they can one day be proud of.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am both a makeup artist and a lash artist. I’ve learned that I can incorprate the two and provide extra value to clients that need both makeup and lash guidence. My love for lashes and makeup, has grown tremendously the last few years. I am most proud of now having my own lash line and how much my makeup artistry has developed. I’m excited to see both continue to grow & expand. It wasnt easy getting to where I’m at today, after I realized trial & error took too much time, I began & continue to educate myself in my artistry and running a business with classes, coaching and reserach. I’ve learned that it’s ok to ask for help & its ok to be imperfect. I want the world to know that I’ve worked hard to create a brand for women that isn’t just about the superficial things, its about embracing yourself, finding your confidence, and enhancing who you are.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Pre-COVID, I might take a friend to one of the great museums in Denver, if its the summer there would be plenty of outdoor events to attend in the North Metro area. One of my favorite eats is Rio, downtown. Their margaritas are amazing, chips & salsa are a must & the menu never disappoints.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’ve had an amazing mentor, Candace Sheppard, who for the last 3 years who has shown me ample amounts of encouragement, guidance and given fantastic coaching, all while over a thousands of miles away, in NYC. The beauty industry is tough, & she has built me up so much, in so many ways, I’m afraid to imagine where I’d be without her.

Lastly, but not least I want to thank my family for always being so supportive & sharing what I do with others. My husband is forever behind me in all that I do, my kids are my driving force and my grandmother who does whatever she can to always help & is forever my cheerleader.
