Meet Damien Brady | Videographer/Photographer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Damien Brady and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Damien, where are your from? We’d love to hear about how your background has played a role in who you are today?
I’m from Parker Colorado, and being here means all outdoors. I started in 2020 when my grandpa first gave me an old camera on one of our hikes and I fell in love with it so I started out with wildlife/landscaping photography. fast forward to Spring 2022 a friend asked me to come film and take pictures for his basketball team and that’s what I did the whole summer. Later on I set my mind on a business because I really love sports and filming/photographing. So in the fall of 2023 I started doing it for my high school and I took off with it eventually buying a better camera and now I am where I am today with my own business and thriving getting contracts all around the state of Colorado.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
To get to where I am today was definitely not easy as my parents didn’t allow me to get my license until I was 18 so all of high school was difficult to get around. Everything I’ve done with videography and editing my own videos has all been self taught and it was a big struggle to get the creative aspects of working with video and editing. One huge advantage I had though was my school gave all access to adobe software for free so I didn’t have to pay for any of it and was very accessible. Some lessons I’ve learned on the way is don’t worry about getting paid and don’t rely on your surroundings. There was times where I had to walk to where I was filming at and it definitely has shown to others how dedicated I am. I didn’t get paid for the first 2 years of doing this professionally and I finally got my first contract with a professional women’s football league (The WNFC) working for the Denver Bandits. Just doing what makes me happy is enough for me and there’s still times to this day after doing this for four years I do things for free because I enjoy doing what I do and sometimes that makes me fall back in love with it again because I have no pressure on my shoulders. One more challenge I had to overcome was there was already a student a step ahead of me and doing it for the football team so I was always over shadowed and never given the attention I need to grow.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
For me personally, I’m an outdoor guy where I love to go camping and hiking in the Rocky Mountains so I’d bring them there and show them how much peace it brings to me. What people don’t know about me though is I used to play hockey so I’ve been a huge hockey fan my whole life and I’d bring them to a Colorado Avalanche game. Hockey has always been a huge part of my life and that’s where I love to film/photograph the most tis hockey because it’s the most entertaining to me.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I really shoutout to my grandpa because without him liking photography and giving me that camera on a random day we went hiking I would never be in the position I need. I also would like to shoutout to my friend Peyton as he drove me everywhere when I didn’t have my license. Without him I wouldn’t have gotten the exposure I needed to get to where I’m at today.
