We had the good fortune of connecting with Damon La Scala and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Damon, we’d love to hear what makes you happy.
Going into the unknown makes me happy. Another day that can be different if I changed the reality of it. A change of mindset, creates a new inspiration with each piece of art. It’s addicting and I learn and evolve with each piece.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’ve always loved art as a child and really never stopped. I started painting with Bob Ross as a middle schooler. Then followed the works of Picasso and several other artists in my 20’s. I went to the Colorado Institute of Art, and got an Associates degree. I then started painting for a design firm, Accessorry Warehouse located in Englewood CO. I started by putting my works in their gallery, then started creating custom works. My most popular look is painting reverse on the back side of plexiglass. It’s a reverse layering technique I started developing in my art. The front of the piece looks like a smooth sheen of glass. It was challenging, but with persistent people found the art very unique. I’ve learned creating work that is different then the norm would open up new innovative paths on my career.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Colorado is filled with so many wonderful places to go and eat. I personally would take my friends to Domo downtown. Love the atmosphere and the Japanese food is exquisite! As far as entertainment I’m in love with The RedRocks amphitheater. The concerts make up at least 75% of my inspiration towards art! You cant go wrong being out in such a mystical place!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I was referred by JD, from jdot. I pretty much love and support anything that has to do with art. Music and artwork give me inspiration and keeps my soul on fire.
