We had the good fortune of connecting with Dane DeLozier and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Dane, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Revo got started mostly out of curiosity. I was practicing as a physical therapist in a more traditional setting in Boulder but had experience in a biomechanics lab. The blending of the two just made so much sense to me. So much evidence in physical therapy is informed by biomechanics research but access to that type of equipment is quite limited in the clinical setting. I felt strongly that having motion capture technology, EMG testing equipment, and force plates in the physical therapy and sports performance setting would be an enormous help for athletes. We wanted to help athletes get to the root cause of their pain faster and get better faster with this new approach.
What should our readers know about your business?
The Revo difference revolves around how we blend, physical therapy, sports performance, and a biomechanics lab.
Our clinicians, all experts in their given fields, are able to provide a wide range of services that are often not available in a traditional PT clinic. We seek to fill in the gray areas of the traditional rehab process with advanced care and a range of service options. In a more traditional setting, a client receiving rehab may run out of PT benefits via their insurance provider or be discharged from care at the 8-12 week mark even if they are not fully prepared to return to their sport. We take pride in the fact that we have continued care options for those clients to progress their PT treatment and even transition to a strength and conditioning focus, with the same provider.
When we add the technology driven approach on top of this we are able to provide patients with objective data to show their progress and prove when they are ready to return to sport. We don’t follow timeline based approaches for progression with our athletes in rehab or sports performance. We follow a more strict objective data progression. We rely heavily on data from motion capture technology and force plate testing to give us the most accurate view of an athlete’s readiness to progress or return to their sport safely.
We offer this same data based approach in our Denver and Boulder offices.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My parents deserve a shout out for sure. I would not be where I am today without their support and guidance. They both have been instrumental in instilling an entrepreneurial mindset in me, supporting my exploration of a nontraditional career path and mentoring me through countless hard decisions along. I’ve hit my fair share of roadblocks on my path but can’t say enough about the encouragement I received along the way to continue on toward my goals.
Growing up in a family owned small business I knew very early on the amount of work and dedication required to achieve extraordinary goals. Being exposed to that work ethic and commitment early in life was such a great advantage. I can say for certain that I inherited all of my grit from my parents.
