We had the good fortune of connecting with Daniel Gonzales and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Daniel, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I started Alive Pixel 15 years ago with the hopes of being able to help people that didn’t have access to the changing web technologies at the time. I wanted to provide people with high quality websites for a lower cost than a big company, and the only way I was able to do that was by starting my own company. I believe that anyone that’s going into business deserves to hit the ground running with a great website at a cost they can afford, so that’s what I strive to do.

What should our readers know about your business?
I brought Alive Pixel to the United States with me 10 years ago from Peru, and it has been a continuous journey. Our main goal is to help people, and I believe that sets us apart from other companies. We would rather someone have a great experience and get the website of their dreams, even if that means a little more work for a little less money than they would pay elsewhere. I owe where I am today to my clients, not only because word of mouth has gotten us most of our jobs, but because every client is unique and needs something different from the last. This has pushed us to continue to grow and learn new aspects that we might not have otherwise. Because of that we have a wide breadth of knowledge and can offer most (if not all) of what someone needs in one place. It has been a struggle at times – we are a small company, and though we have great references and a history of success, sometimes people are more comfortable with larger corporations. As a company, we have overcome any challenge together, and have grown from all of our experiences. If there was one thing I could impart on the world it would be not to overlook the little guy. We can provide everything someone needs, and have a much more personal experience, but we often get overlooked because of our size. That goes for almost all small businesses! Give one a shot – you won’t be disappointed.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
One of the first places I would take someone is to Estes Park. Who wouldn’t love a day in the mountains, with a visit to the iconic Stanley Hotel? I would probably take them on the Peak to Peak highway on my motorcycle and spend most of our time in the mountains. If it was during the summer we would take Trail Ridge Road to Grand Lake and rent a boat for a day on the water. A must see would be Red Rocks, and I would have to take them to Garden of the Gods in Colorado Springs. Glenwood Springs is a must for the hot springs, and then to Rifle Falls. For food and drinks we would find whatever dive bars were on the routes, preferably with a pool table!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My motivation behind everything I do is my son, Thiago. Thank you for giving me the drive to become a better man and father. Thank you to Walt Disney, because his quote “We keep moving forward, opening new doors, and doing new things, because we’re curious and curiosity keeps leading us down new paths.” has been my inspiration since childhood.
