Meet Daniel Kelly | Freelance Photographer & Videographer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Daniel Kelly and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Daniel, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
It started with a question. “How can I share my emotions without words?”

Growing up my family kept a shoebox full of photos. Anytime I was in a dark place, or I felt isolated, I would go through that shoebox. It was my solidarity, bringing me joy went there wasn’t, telling a story of the past but still making me feel like I was there. There’s just a magical feeling that happens when looking at a good photo, almost indescribable. Photos not only tell stories but carry feeling, and I wanted to share that experience with everyone.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I wouldn’t exactly say my art is different, but I try to look for emotion where others wouldn’t. Whether it’s making an old building seem sad or translating the hardship of a growing plant, or even people in their most vulnerable moments. I look for what makes us, us, in everything.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’m a sucker for food trucks, tacos especially, and there’s so many good ones around. If I’m not out searching for tunnels full of graffiti or hunting down murals, I’m at one of the huge local parks with my kids, swimming at the reservoir, or out on a hike.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d like to shoutout my Wife, Ashleigh, for being my encouragement, providing me guidance and friendship, believing in not only me, but my passion for photography, and just being such a bad person in general! I wouldn’t be where I am in not only life, but in my career without her.
