We had the good fortune of connecting with Daniel Logan and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Daniel, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Starting my own business was my way of pursuing my love for art and sharing it with the world. Being retired military, I learned how to be prideful in what I do. I wanted to mix that pride with something I love.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I medically retired from the Air Force in 2019. Days later I set out to pursue my love for art and joined an Art school in Denver, Rocky Mountain College of Art + Design. I had a moto in school, “I have no idea what I’m doing”. I constantly compared my art to other students and of course the masters. I continued school during covid which having online classes is a nightmare for an art student. Not having your teacher around to critique your art in person seemed impossible to properly learn anything. After receiving the all-clear to go back to school, and approximately one year before I graduated, I learned that I gained a confidence in not knowing it all. I suddenly knew my art wasn’t perfect and actually preferred it that way. Now I see every imperfection as a sign of my personality in my art. I’m not perfect but I’m confident in who I am. Why should my art be any different? So, what sets me apart from other artists, my flaws. You should check them out sometime.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Colorado Springs is known for one very large thing, Pikes Peak! It’s a must see for every traveler, but what the locals know that others don’t is that you must try a donut at the shop on top the mountain. Breweries are a huge must in Colorado Springs as well. If you don’t drink, then get a locally brewed coffee. I personally like the coffee at the Urban Egg myself. You have to get outside. You must get out and see Garden or the Gods, Manitou Springs, and if you’re up for it take a climb head up the Incline. It’s a doozy, but the view is well worth it. All of these things are huge inspirations in my art.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to dedicate this shout out to my dad, Tony Logan. My dad was in the army, but always pursued art. He showed me how to pursue what I love and take on the responsibilities that comes with it. Most parents will tell you to get a realistic job that pays well, but my dad taught me how to make my dreams a reality. I’ll always appreciate him for that.
