We had the good fortune of connecting with Danielle Bailey and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Danielle, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
Good question! My mom is a retired elementary music teacher so I was raised in a household full of art and music. Whether it was learning to play different musical instruments, listening to all different types of music in our house, watching broadway shows or going to tons of art museums, the arts were always there. Thanks to her, I grew to have a love for the arts!
Ive always had a special love for photography. I love the story that the photographs tell whether they are landscape or portrait photos. But, being on the other side of the lens, allows me to showcase people at some of their happier moments. I really enjoy catching families and friends during candid moments of pure joy where they can save and share it for others to see. At the end of the day, photography allows me to please my clients with their own special artwork and be creative at the same time!

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
This goes along with what I said earlier, but I really enjoy getting shots of people in their natural element. I like to get photos of siblings and cousins playing together, acting silly with their parents, and couples being candid. Over all, I just want families and friends being who they actually are in my shots, and not appearing stiff and uncomfortable.
I think when I first started out, I had a lot of trouble with posing people and getting clients to feel relaxed in front of the camera, because honestly most of us don’t like being on that side of the camera! Each season I tend to learn different tips and tricks on how to get kids, parents and partners to be more comfortable and I feel like that shows in my photographs. I strive to give my clients a gallery of photos that show them in a creative way, but also as who they are, and I want to take into account their ideas as well. I love when my clients have ideas on locations for their shoots as well as posing ideas. Sometimes kids have some of the most creative ideas for poses too!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I have 3 kids and 2 dogs in my family so my itinerary of fun things to do around the Denver area usually consists of things they enjoy as well. We love to take our dogs to the Breckenridge Brewery in Littleton and listen to live music. The kids can bring their bikes and go around the little dirt path behind the farmhouse too. Our favorite is going on Tuesday nights for Bingo night. It’s free, and you can win the best prizes! Paddleboarding at the Chatfield State Park Gravel Ponds would be a must too. You could spend most of the day there, paddling and soaking up the sunset and the views.

Baby goat yoga at Aspen Grove in Littleton is so fun! Rocky Mountain Goat Yoga has so many fun events with these goats. I did goat yoga last year and it was hilarious. I can’t wait to do it again.

My family and I really like to hike, so every summer we go to Lair’ O the Bear Park just outside of Idledale. We usually hike a trail or two and then let the kids and pups play in the river after. Last summer we even got to see some river otters! On the way back you can stop in Morrison and get a drink and a pizza at the Red Rocks Beer Garden. We stumbled upon it this past summer and have gone a few times now. They only sell local to Colorado drinks and snacks and it’s all great. Bring a deck of cards, your fam and a pup or 2 and you’re all set!

I would have to suggest floating the Clear Creek River in Golden too. It’s so fun and yet so awkward and hilarious. It’s also a great way to meet new people as you basically just play bumper boats in the river for an hour, running into strangers with your tube. After you’re done floating, you can stop by the Golden Mill next door for a meal and visit all the local pups hanging out there as well.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I moved to the Denver area just over two years ago, and would not be where I am now without the tons of support from the other moms in my tribe. Moving from Dallas to here, I had to completely start over. I lost all of my past clients and that was so difficult for me. My friends have given me so much support and help with word of mouth. It has truly been a huge help and I would not be where I am at this point without their free advertisement!
