We had the good fortune of connecting with Danielle Lynn and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Danielle, is your business focused on helping the community? If so, how?
I truly believe we are living in a revolutionary era, an era of liberation from limiting beliefs that will serve as humanities’ next phase of evolution. I feel that this revolution is taking place in our hearts and minds, and we are being called to liberate ourselves from the chains of our ancestral pain that has enslaved humanity for far too long. Breaking these disserving and limiting patterns will liberate generations to come so that they may hold meaningful relationships, create inspiring art, and discover innovate solutions to the world’s most pressing issues.
I hope that through our teas each drinker may feel a sense of companionship on this transformational path. It is my hope that each cup of Daughters of Libertea will evoke inspiration to embody more personal liberation within each drinker.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I believe my tea is art, from the cultivation of herbal combinations, the storytelling of the brand, and invitation on each package.
I grew up in Northwest Indiana in a South Chicago Suburb, my mother died when I was 3 and my father passed when I was 12. I unfortunately had a very difficult childhood. I was pretty much stuck in a state of survival for decades. Most of my life choices were made from this activated state of being. Fear and anticipation of pain controlled my nervous system. This unfortunate state of being continued into my mid 20’s where I found myself in a dark night of the soul situation. Form this place I began learning tools and techniques to overcome my early life’s programing. I poured myself into courses and therapies to overcome myself. I spent hundreds of hours dedicated to learning techniques, tools, courses, reading books, and listening to podcasts that in some ways or another taught me the power of the mind-body connection and how the concepts we hold influence the realties we create for ourselves. During this time, I completed an herbalist online training program and joined an herbalist guild. I became a student of the plants and began discovering the healing potential within our plant allies. I began making healing concoctions, experimenting with teas and developing herbally infused chocolates that I look forward to incorporating into Daughters of Libertea very soon. I have been offering beautiful mocktails made with my teas for women’s circles this past summer. As well as hosting fun tea parties with friends. It has been wonderful to create such magical moments and cultivate a sense of community while doing so.
I feel that we, as a species we are being called to voluntarily overcome hundreds of years of separation from nature and as we do, our planet will experience profound healing. There is much to relearn as humans, as we are part of nature, not separate. It is my hope to share bits of my own journey through this tea company. I believe that by accepting personal responsibility of daily thoughts and habits we can come into alignment and thrive. I hope that through our teas each drinker may feel a sense of companionship on this transformational path.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
It has been many years since I’ve visited Denver. But as child my father brought me to Colorado many times for skiing and summertime exploration. It fostered my love for nature and drew a vast contrast with where I lived. If I were to visit now, I would definitely check out the ski resorts west of the city to reminisce. I would love to check out some of the summer hiking opportunities of the Rockies as well. A priority of mine while vacationing is to check out as many museums and historical sites as possible, so the Denver Museum of Nature and Science would be a must. As far as food, I would, I would likely ask locals for recommendation for something fun with whole food options.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Sorinne Ardeleanu for sure. I truly believe she came into my life through divine orchestration during a very challenging period I was experiencing. Since then, she’s been a wonderful mentor and companion in studying the natural laws of the body mind and soul with me. During this time, I’ve learned to analyze concepts I’ve held that have prevented me from being able to express the creative potential within.
My partner Michael Pickens, who has always encouraged me to follow my interests and create from them. I would absolutely say that he truly taught me what a growth mindset is by living it daily. He’s always learning and growing and demonstrating the power of showing up consistently with perseverance. He connected me with many forms of personal development early in our relationship which showed me that we can learn and develop skills in anything we set our minds to.
I also began listening to the Unmistakable Creative Podcast by Srini Rao in 2016 ish. The interviews fascinated me. I had never been exposed to the world of entrepreneurship. I look back and can see that finding this resource changed the trajectory of my life entirely. Interview after interview I became more and more aware that someone like me could use past experiences to catalyze transformation and thrive in this life.
