We had the good fortune of connecting with Danny Frank and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Danny, what is the most important factor behind your success?
Only hiring top notch guides. We take great pride in the guided fly fishing trips we offer. You can only do this if you have great guides!

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I grew up working in a fly shop in Northeastern Ohio before moving to Colorado for College in 2007. I ran my first guided fly fishing trip in Colorado in 2008. Fly fishing has always given me a purpose in my life so once I graduated from college, it only made sense to me to continue to work in the fly fishing industry.

I wanted to have my own company that offered the best guided trips on both public and private waters in Colorado’s Front Range. There were other companies who specialized in guiding just private water or just public water but there wasn’t a company that excelled at both. That is what I wanted to create.

The biggest lesson I have learned is that the fishing is the easy part. The hardest part is running the small business, dealing with customers, employees, handling all the accounting, marketing, billing, really just running the business myself while also guiding full time. Time management and a patient wife have been key!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would take them up in the mountains to go fly fishing in the South Platte River.
