We had the good fortune of connecting with Delain Mott and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Delain, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
My first career with Lifetouch National School Studios was fulfilling and I learned so much. I became the youngest sales manager in our company’s history and had some great bosses along the way. I also had one horrible boss that ultimately pushed me to leave after twelve years of climbing the ladder and growing professionally. After leaving, I realized I had made that job a big part of my identity and did not really know who I was anymore. I had two babies and, though I enjoyed being a mom, I also realized I needed something just for me, something of my own. Maybe initially, it started as a selfish venture to “rediscover Delain.” But, as I came into my own again and realized my greater purpose, I began to understand that I’m an independent go-getter and leader; and I can impact others’ lives and help in a way that is purposeful and meaningful to others, which in turn, fills my soul.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Part of my day-to-day is working at Evergreen Athletic Club as a personal trainer. I have such a passion for fitness and wellness. I get to meet so many different types of people and get to fulfill the energetic and athletic part of my brain. I’ve discovered that I love others through acts of service. I’m passionate about helping others to become stronger and more confident or even just helping them with a routine to stay active and healthier. There seems to be a shift in how people see themselves: strong is the new skinny and I am here for it! I believe one of my biggest strengths that sets me apart from most is my ability to put people at ease. People tend to feel comfortable around me and I love that I am a safe place for people to put their guard down and just be! To me, this is the best gift, and from that raw space we can work toward a better version of themselves on their terms!
From a young age, sports have been my whole life, but I have also always loved interior design. My mom is a wonderful designer and helped foster this in me early on. From this little seed she planted, I can see spaces and make them look better with just a few adjustments. This is my strength when listing a home for sale. I can use what’s available and make that home feel comfortable and cozy. This allows potential buyers to come in and feel right at home, too. I do not need a staging company to do this. I have always been able to accomplish this with my seller’s items and an open mind to purging and moving things around, I love that I get to guide my clients “home”. It’s an honor and a privilege.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Can I have two, please? Ha! I’d first say my dad, Chris Morgan. He has always been my hero as a fire fighter, then retired and turned successful realtor in NC. He has always taught me and my three siblings by his actions. He showed us and continues to show us what hard work and dedication look like every day. He is the one who encouraged me to get my real estate licenses as I was discovering what was next for me. I was able to see from my dad’s work ethic that this field is challenging, but if you stay consistent and keep up relationships, it can be a very fun and fulfilling career path that truly makes a difference in people’s lives.
In a tie for first place is my husband, for his love and encouragement. We’ve grown up together and this man knows me better than I know myself. Chris Mott is the motivator and coach I need when life gets tough. They always say the best life partner is someone you’d want next to you in battle; well, there really is no better person. I can literally walk into his home office and say, I need a pep talk, and he will drop what he is doing and help put my mind right where I need to be to tackle some of my tougher days.
I look up to these two men so much. They mean the world to me, and I am so lucky and honored to have them both in my corner helping me become my best, me!
