We had the good fortune of connecting with Denver Donkey and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Denver, what’s something about your industry that outsiders are probably unaware of?
As an NFT artist, one thing that I’m proud to be a part of is the growing recognition and appreciation for digital art in the wider art world. Digital art was often dismissed or overlooked in traditional art circles, but with the emergence of NFTs and blockchain technology, we’re now seeing a shift in the way that digital art is valued and respected.
What’s also exciting is the community that’s formed around NFTs and digital art. It’s a supportive and collaborative community of creators, collectors, and enthusiasts who are passionate about pushing the boundaries of what’s possible with digital art. This community has provided me with invaluable support, feedback, and exposure for my work, and I’m grateful to be a part of it.
Overall, as a digital artist, I feel like I’m part of a movement that’s democratizing the art world and allowing for new forms of creativity and expression. The possibilities for digital art are endless, and I can’t wait to see where this industry goes in the future.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Thank you for asking! My art is a reflection of my passion for new technology and the endless possibilities it presents for creative expression. I specialize in motion design, and my work ranges from 2D and 3D animations to projection mapping installations.
Recently, I’ve been exploring the world of NFTs and digital art, and have released a few collections on Nifty Kit, including “DONKs” and my upcoming collection “Crystal Skulls”. These collections incorporate my love for vibrant, dynamic visuals and explore themes of identity and transformation.
My studio, Tend Studio, is the culmination of my journey as a visual effects and motion graphics artist. I earned a degree in Visual Effects and Motion Graphics in 2010 and have spent years honing my craft and pushing the boundaries of what’s possible with new technology like AI-generated art, AR, VR, and planetarium films.
As for what sets me apart, I believe it’s my willingness to take risks and explore new territory in my work. I’m always pushing myself to try new techniques and experiment with new tools and technologies, which I think has helped me stand out in a crowded field.
Ultimately, I want the world to know that my art is a reflection of my love for the creative process and my dedication to pushing the limits of what’s possible with motion design and digital art.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
As a Colorado Native, I’ve got a few suggestions on where to take a friend for a week-long trip they won’t soon forget.
First off, we gotta hit up some of the craft breweries in Denver like Great Divide or Ratio Beerworks. These places have great beer and a cool, laid-back atmosphere. If we’re lucky, we might even catch some live music at venues like the Larimer Lounge or the Bluebird Theater.
Next, we can’t miss out on the gorgeous hiking trails and stunning views in the Flatirons of Boulder. After a day on the trails, we’ll need to refuel with some delicious food from the likes of the Mountain Sun Pub & Brewery or the McDevitt Tacos.
Back in Longmont, we can check out the Firehouse Art Center where I happen to be a member of the board of directors, and head for a pint at Left Hand or Wibby Brewing. And for dinner, we can hit up the Pumphouse Brewery for a tasty Thai crunch wrap.
Of course, we’ll also want to check out some of the classic tourist spots like Meow Wolf, Red Rocks, the Denver Art Museum and Pearl Street in Boulder. But I’m more excited to show my friend some of my favorite off-the-beaten-path spots, like the Ant Life Gallery or New York Deli News in SE Denver, my all time favorite sandwich joint.
Overall, there’s plenty of great spots to explore in this area, whether you’re into live music, craft beer, art, or just soaking up the local vibes.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Absolutely! To be honest, I have to give a shoutout to the Twitter community and Twitter spaces.
Through Twitter, I’ve been able to connect with like-minded individuals, share my work and ideas, and collaborate with others in my super-niche field. I’m constantly inspired by the creativity and talent of the people I’ve met there.
In particular, I have to give a shoutout to the creators and mods of Twitter spaces. These virtual rooms have become a hub for conversation, learning, and community building, and I’ve had the opportunity to participate in some incredible discussions and panels there.
Overall, I’m incredibly grateful to the Twitter community and Twitter spaces for the role they’ve played in my personal and professional growth. The connections I’ve made there have been instrumental in helping me get to where I am today, and I’m excited to see where this community takes me in the future.
