We had the good fortune of connecting with Derek Garcia and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Derek, why did you pursue a creative career?
I grew up on Disney and was fortunate enough to watch as the Pixar era came to light. I remember getting lost in those visuals and stories. Animation was the driver for wanting to pursue a creative career. Aside from that, I was lucky enough to understand early on that if I was going to be doing something the rest of my life then it should be something I really enjoy.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Business is never easy, otherwise everyone would do it. So in turn, where I am currently from where I started has been a long journey, and in my eyes I have been successful through slow coming. In other’s eyes, I probably am not very successful at all, but they do not understand the journey.

Today, I am proud to be documenting the world by measure of moments. Moments captured in time and documented for future remembrance or reference. Links Productions LLC covers a gambit of portraits from family, engagements, graduation, to modeling and fashion. As well, we journey to far away places to capture places that individuals may not be lucky enough to travel to but can view on our site or print for themselves. Landscape photography tells a story of this world, the good and bad, and allows people to visit those places virtually. Lastly, we help in areas of real estate and other commercial needs to help drive business.

What I want people to know about Links Productions LLC, is that moments are precious, moments tell a story, moments drive a call to action, and we are here to capture them to the best of our ability.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
That depends on the person, but in general here are some of my favorite places:

Day 1 – Rocky Mountain National Park and Estes Park. Of course, we would take a drive through and do a short hike up on trail ridge road. It only takes ten minutes hiking off that road to be surrounded by some of the most visually striking landscapes around. Then head back into Estes Park for dinner and possibly a tour of the Stanley hotel.

Day 2 – Hanging out Denver Downtown. The 16th street mall for some shopping and good eats at The Denver Chop House or BDs Mongolian Grill. End the evening with a show at the Performing Arts Complex.

Day 3 – Denver Botanic Gardens, lunch at Peppers, and then hang out at the Nature and Science Museum.

Day 4 – Explore Red Rocks and possibly catch a show

Day 5 – Relax and do some fishing at Cherry Creek Reservior

Day 6 – Head up Guanella Pass and Hike Mt Bierstedt Camp at the Grays and Torreys trail head

Day 7 – Hike Grays and Torreys and head back into Idaho Springs for some food!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
First, of course, would be my parents who didn’t try to deter me in my pursuit of a creative career. They supported and understood that I could handle the path I am taking. Second, came from an unexpected source actually. A gentleman named Joey entered my life as a MLM business owner. Now with any of these individuals you can understand the initial reserve I may have had, but his approach was purposeful and researched. He taught me a lot in terms of business and put some perspective to my life though I didn’t necessarily fall in line with his foot steps. Third, google. I mean it seems silly at first, but just being able to research online and look up information I didn’t understand or to find virtual mentors to teach me different skills or provide new perspective was invaluable to my growth. The internet is a wealth of information if you use it correctly and weed out the false or misleading information.
