We had the good fortune of connecting with Derrick Ivey and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Derrick, can you talk to us a bit about the social impact of your business?
My business helps the community or the world in so many ways, I think one of the biggest ways is that I help people overcome internal limitations, whether that’s something they have placed on themselves or the world has done that, my deep work helps people remember the truth of who they are and who they came onto this planet to be, and the legacy that they want to leave in this lifetime. That is priceless and they then become bigger assets to the community, they inspire people around them, level up and change the trajectory of their lives. It is really amazing to see the things my clients accomplish after they clear the beliefs that kept them from starting a business to serve the community, or kept them from asking someone on a date that becomes a loving partner, or they have the confidence to go back to school and help people, this is beautiful work in that way. I also love the fact that my business gives people real, actionable ways to blend science and spirit in ways that help them enjoy their lives more and make more of it. With my teaching work, that helps the world in the way that it gives empowerment to the next generation of people coming into the healing arts, or helps people bring out the part in them that helps empower others. I started my business more than anything to be of service, so it truly is the biggest reward to know I am spending my lifetime doing something meaningful that also helps others, and I hope that also through my business and lifestyle I can show others that you don’t have to burn out to be successful!

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
What sets me apart from others is my blend of being a super grounded business person, as well as super mystical, also like a writer and mad scientist vibe. So I guess that would be that I am a bridge between science and spirit and I help people bring those huge concepts from the psychic realms, and help them make it make sense in their real world day to day life. I help people succeed with using my own methods to blend all of that stuff. I’m most proud and excited that I won an award for #1 best hypnotherapy service in Fort Collins! That’s pretty cool! I got to where I am in business today through a lot of blood sweat and tears really. I started out really not knowing what it would all entail or how hard it would be, I just knew that I wanted to help people and figured it out along the way, in my own way, difficult level was very hard, however I wouldn’t trade it for anything. I am the type of person who gets really bored and depressed if I’m not challenged every day, I always want to keep learning and growing. I never want to just reach a certain level and say thats it, I made it. I overcame that by reminding myself to always have fun with it and remember at the end of the day its all worth it because it helps so many people at such a deep level, it is so much bigger than me. The lessons I’ve learned along the way is that you can literally be, do, or have absolutely anything in life, once you make that decision to, and you get there by taking imperfect action every day. If you dont give up, you won’t fail. I’d love the world to know about my brand and story: my work is not about fixing anyone, it is about remembering the truth of who you are and coming back into connection with your self as a whole human, and that everything you want in life starts inside of you.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Ah yeah. We would probably spend the most time doing things to have a deep connection and interaction. We would definitely be going to get dutch bros coffee, then going to hike Gray rock, of course deep conversations every step of the way, long walks around Fort Collins. I would take them to Old Town Fort Collins to peruse the shops and drive them up into the Poudre Canyon, take them up by the reservoir and Horsetooth, and probably going to cook a lot of good food at home and just hang out at my house. It would also just depend on that person and what they like, it would be balanced between action and meditation, space balanced with interactive things. I am a pretty dang spontaneous person so I am sure I wouldn’t plan that much, I would just let it unfold. Northern Colorado is really a fun place to just have no adgenda in.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to recognize Shane Smith, who is called The Lightning Psychic here in Northern Colorado. Shane has been such an amazing colleague and friend and really it has made all of the difference having a colleague and friend who believes in me and what I do and cheers me on every step along the way. Also his readings that he does are phenomenally affirming and healing for anyone.
