We had the good fortune of connecting with Diana Care and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Diana, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I pursued a creative career because I couldn’t imagine doing anything else other than what I love. I grew up in Las Vegas in the 80’s and 90’s and was always around eccentric entertainers and performers that just fascinated me. I recognized from a young age that these creative adults were able to able to make a living being their authentic selves following their passion and it had a lasting impression on me. I knew what I wanted to do at a very young age, I started performing at age 6 and began synchronized swimming at age 11. I never wanted to do anything else and after graduating college with a degree in Theater having a “normal job” wasn’t an option.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Wet Swim Show is a synchronized swimming performance company that aims to provide highly theatrical and entertaining aquatic shows for all types of events. I’m proud that I was able to bring my own creative style to something so unique and unexplored. Synchronized swimming as a performance art has so much potential and I’m excited to see how different it can be.

It wasn’t easy getting to where I am now! Believe it or not, there is competition out there, I had to show people how my company performs differently and how we customize our performances. I also didn’t have an investor or partner, my business started with my own savings. I stayed true to myself and believed in the decision I was making. People enjoyed hearing me pitch my idea so I figured they would enjoy it enough to hire it. I didn’t give up and I landed my first client.

I want people to know that Wet Swim Show provides something unique and special to many people. A lot of people have never seen synchronized swimming before and they feel a sense of joy when we perform. When it comes to client requests we do our best to make their aquatic dreams come true. We’ll do anything from a wedding, anniversary, kid’s party, bachelor party and corporate event. If you have a special song or quirky request we make it happen for you, it’s your special day!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
For me it’s all about pools! My favorites are the pool at the Garden of the Gods Resort and the Infinity Pool at the Broadmore both located in Colorado Springs. If you don’t want to submerge in chlorine there are multiple Hot Springs Colorado has to offer.
We have yet to do a show here but The Source Hotel and Market Hall in Denver is a great place! It has multiple food options and is not your average hotel, it’s a great place for events. I definitely have my eye on the rooftop pool!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to thank all of my coaches for teaching and training me to be a great swimmer. I’d like to thank my previous teammates and competitors for being a part of the amazing sorority of synchronized swimmers who are now professional performers and my dear friends. I want to thank my friends Adam and Craig who helped me film a great promotional reel when I was just getting started.

I want to thank all the people who said it was too much work or who told me I couldn’t do it without major connections…….ya’ll just inspired me to work harder.
And of course a huge shout out to my parents who supported me as a young synchronized swimmer on the rec team, to a collegiate champion, to CEO of her own performance company.
