We had the good fortune of connecting with Drag Daddy Entertainment and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Drag Daddy Entertainment, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
My process is unique in some ways, and not unique, in others. As a person who lives with ADHD, I always found it hard to connect to any job I had as a teenager. My brain processes faster than a person that does not have ADHD, so I harnessed that speed of processing, alongside my passion for creativity and ended up starting my first business at the age of 20 years old (Statistically, people that live with ADHD are three-times more likely to own a business). After selling my businesses in 2016, I thought I was on the way to an early retirement, as I didn’t foresee finding another space where my passion for creativity and performance would expand. Then in 2020, I started becoming interested in the world of Drag – Not to become a Drag performer, but to engage with the community and bring my combined skills as a choreographer, show producer, talent manager and community builder to this creative world. Hence, Drag Daddy Entertainment was born.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Drag Daddy Entertainment – We are a unique management and Show/production company that caters to the world of Drag – Exclusively working with professional drag artist and professional dancers. We manage Ru Paul Drag Race Stars and find undiscovered talent around the World to lift them up to be seen. We do all this while keeping our motto of “Creating, Celebrating and Elevating drag diversity within Show-business” in the front of our mission.
Drag Daddy Entertainment is currently focusing on unique show productions – Such as high energy dance specials, extremely elevated Drag Brunches/Shows, Comedic and romantic drag dessert theaters, and much more! I’d like the readers to know that if you are interested in finding out how deep the art of drag is, come to one of our shows that will not only keep you on the edge of your seat, but will leave you wanting more. Our mission is to produce the highest quality shows with the highest quality performers out there!
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’d start Day 1 of theri visit by taking them to The Mansion on Colfax for an amazing Drag Daddy Entertainment, Drag Brunch! Followed by a day at one of the amazing parks in Denver and maybe stop by the REI flagship store for some shopping. I live in West Highlands, so I would take them to a lovely dinner at American Elm on 38thave! I would continue an amazing Denver evening by taking them downtown to ACE Eat & Serve to play some ping pong. Close out the evening at Triangle or X-bar for a drink, and then hopefully catch one of our local ‘Drag Daddy Queens’, Anna Staysha or Jessica L’Whor at a show! Day 2, we would hit the Rockies for all the nature one could handle! 🙂
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to shoutout to my dear friend, and fellow entrepreneur Jon Troshynski with Team Queen City Realty @ Compass – He also runs Denver Pride Professionals – a social networking group that emphasizes positive, professional relationship-building in the Denver community. Secondly, everyone deserves to know my lovely friend and positive spirit, Samuel Harris, who owns Rocky Mountain Short Term Rentals. His rentals are stunning and he delivers a service that is unmatched!
