We had the good fortune of connecting with Edee Anesi and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Edee, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
Success results from a blend of many factors – vision, strategic planning, adaptability, resilience, and more. However, for me, perhaps the two most important elements are continuous education and the people I surround myself with.

I’ve prioritized staying curious and open to new knowledge and experiences. This allows me to adapt to changing circumstances, embrace new challenges, and consistently improve my skills. By investing time in reading, taking courses, attending workshops, and even traveling, I’ve been able to expand my expertise and enhance my problem-solving abilities. My commitment to learning has not only contributed to my professional achievements but has also enriched my personal development.

Having a strong, supportive network of friends, family, colleagues, mentors, and advisors, has made all the difference for me. They provide invaluable advice, encouragement, and opportunities that I might not have found on my own.  The diverse perspectives from my network have continually sparked innovation and driven growth. Surrounding myself with people who challenge, inspire, and support me has been pivotal to my success.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My background in art history has honed my appreciation for beauty and deepened my understanding of the cultural dynamics that shape vibrant art communities. As a student in London, my focus was on contemporary art from Iran and the Arab world, guided by remarkable mentors who are experts in this niche. Supported by my parents and encouraged by these mentors, I traveled to seek out art, diverse cultures, and new experiences. This broadened my perspective, fostering connections and infusing a unique international perspective into my work in real estate. While my path to becoming a real estate developer was unexpected, I find great fulfillment in applying my artistic sensibilities and business expertise to create spaces that are not only functional but also aesthetically inspiring. By blending innovative design with practical solutions, I strive to craft environments that resonate with both creativity and practicality. Being involved with Flora, a mixed-use building featuring retail, office, and 92 luxury apartments in the vibrant RiNo Art District, has unexpectedly reconnected me with the art world. Learning about residents moving in and appreciating Floras distinctive design and high quality has been incredibly rewarding. This RiNo district provides numerous chances to collaborate with artists, and the community’s enthusiasm is palpable.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
This is a tough question! Denver is bursting with attractions, each neighborhood offering its own unique charm. Let me focus on RiNo, an eclectic and lively district renowned for its vibrant art scene, diverse culinary offerings, and thriving music venues.

Neighborhood streets are filled with colorful murals and graffiti art, the walls serve as canvases for local and international artists, making RiNo a haven for art lovers seeking inspiration. Whether you’re exploring innovative exhibitions at Redline, discovering artist studios at Studios on Blake, or experiencing contemporary artworks at Alto Gallery, RiNo offers a diverse range of artistic experiences.

RiNo’s food scene is a reflection of the neighborhood’s artistic flair and creative energy, offering a diverse range of culinary experiences that appeal to every palate. Savor modern Israeli cuisine at Safta, enjoy exquisite sushi at Uchi, indulge in artisanal pizza at Redeemer Pizza, or explore innovative Chinese-American dishes at Hop Alley (to name a few), RiNo is a great place to celebrate flavor, creativity, and community.

Beyond its art and dining scenes, RiNo pulses with nightlife and a dynamic bar culture. Highlights include Ratio Beerworks, beloved for its diverse beer selection, Ironton Distillery & Crafthouse for craft cocktails and small-batch spirits, and The Matchbox, a local dive bar with good music, affordable drinks, and a large patio. For a taste of Colorado, Number 38 offers local beers, wines, spirits, and standout burgers, along with outdoor courts for volleyball and intimate concerts. Music enthusiasts have a wide array of options with venues such as Mission Ballroom, Larimer Lounge, Fort Greene, and Globe Hall, each offering unique experiences.

Last but not least, don’t miss the RiNo Art Park and Promenade along the Platte River, featuring lounge areas, a lawn, play equipment, shade, and attractions like Comal Restaurant, Denver Public Library, and Alto Gallery. Check out the RiNo Art District website (rinoartdisctrict.org) for a calendar of events, you might catch an art market, performance or other activation at the Art Park. In the near future, visitors will be able to enjoy the carefully curated retail spaces at Flora, right across from the Park!

RiNo epitomizes a blend of creativity and culture, with so much more to discover than can be captured in words. You just have to experience it yourself.
