We had the good fortune of connecting with Elena Cantor and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Elena, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Since I was a little girl, I’ve been haunted and mesmerized by the talent of he old masters of art. To the point of moving to Italy to pursue this knowledge and education.
Since leaving that incredible journey, back in 2013, I’ve been on a life mission to share this invaluable tradition with anyone who might be interested.
So, through many settings and in many places, I’ve been teaching, creating a following and a community, that has led me to this point. And That’s the story behind UMBRA Academy, a life long commitment to the revival of the rich and deep, almost magical, secrets of the old masters. The bringing to life of a project that inspires and forms the most skilled artists, now and in years to come.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Academic training is the language of visual arts.
It’s the objective and structured way in which anyone, regardless of age or “natural talent”, can become highly skilled in drawing and painting, a
professional artist.

I train your eye to see, without he veil of preconceptions. I tesc your brain to understand what the eye is seeing. And ultimately, I test your hand how to execute this visions of reality.
This powerful knowledge can also lead you to succesfuly translate, with accuracy, those powerful visions in your mind. So you can translate the essence if your soul with eloquence and grace.

Being in love with mastery and pursuing it is transformative. It’s a quest that marks a before and an after. The almost eternal process of understanding nature, light, and the beauty of existence.

We are here to produce real art. Powerful art.
And to give the skills back to a trade that, unlike any other, heals our human soul.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Museums, national parks, sculpture parks, local brewery and some nice local restaurants
