Meet Elizabeth Weiler

We had the good fortune of connecting with Elizabeth Weiler and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Elizabeth, how do you think about risk?
Risk has played a huge factor in my life and my career. There is a quote from a poem called The Invitation and it says, “It doesn’t interest me how old you are. I want to know if you will risk looking like a fool for love, for your dream, for the adventure of being alive.” These are words I live by. Risk has taken me far and deciding to leave my journalism career behind and pursue Massage Therapy was a big risk, but an even bigger reward. Sometimes risk is connotated with impulsivity but I think about risk as being okay with the unknown and having faith in myself and the universe that everything will fall into place as it’s meant to.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Many people prefer to be asked, “What do you like to do?” rather than “What do you do?”—because their work isn’t the core of who they are. But for me, I am my work. I am my brand. Just as it was with journalism, it’s the same with massage therapy: my work is a direct extension of me. What I’ve decided to pursue has never been a career or financial choice, rather a calling or a purpose. I’m doing massage because it is fulfilling to me, and I get to help other people feel good in their bodies, i’m truly trying to heal others, but with boundaries of course. A good healer doesn’t force healing; they embody it. They lead by example.
I am still getting to where I want to go professionally and I have no timeline for my success because I will never stop learning or being a student of life. Walking away from my career in journalism and digital media wasn’t easy. I had worked incredibly hard to get where I was becoming an assignment editor for Denver 7 ABC by the age of 23. That’s something I’m really proud of. I didn’t have anyone telling me how to get there, I didn’t have any connections, I did it all myself, I earned it. So yes, there was a deep sense of loss in stepping away from that path. There were external pressures pushing me out, but ultimately, I had a choice to make. A choice that not everyone gets to make. I chose the path that would bring me joy, sustainability, and spiritual growth.
What I would want the world to know is that taking risk can be a privilege, not many people in the position to just go after what makes them happy. I’m not saying I didn’t earn it, but I do feel that in life, I have been dealt a good hand of cards.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I spend a lot of time at The Yoga Center of Denver working at the desk and as a massage therapist, I love the teachers, classes and the space in general. We’d spend a lot of time in Denver’s parks and on South Broadway, I love eating at Adelitas. But if I know my best friend she’d probably want to go to a market, get ramen, wine and maybe get a piercing so I’d need to factor in a City Park farmers market, a trip to Neko or Corner Ramen, Bigsby’s Folly for wine and then head to Bound by Design! I’d love to treat her to a facial at Skin and Muscles on Welton!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’ve been fortunate to have many incredible support systems throughout my journey—mentors like Alex Kalwitz and J.J. Pellini, amazing friends who booked me as an intern, helped capture photos for my brand, and shared my services with others. Their support has meant the world. But if there’s one group I truly couldn’t have done this without, it’s my family. Their constant encouragement and unwavering confidence in my decisions have been a driving force behind my ability to pursue my goals.
