We had the good fortune of connecting with Eric Reinhardt and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Eric, can you talk to us a bit about the social impact of your business?
Heating our homes is something most of us don’t think much about, but it’s one of the biggest sources of carbon emissions worldwide. Space and water heating make up about 40% of the emissions that come from buildings, and across North America, most homes still run on fossil fuels. Every gas furnace or water heater is a small piece of a much larger problem, and a big opportunity to make a difference.

That’s the challenge Jetson Home set out to tackle.

According to research from UC Davis and the NRDC, a home that replaces a gas furnace with a high-efficiency heat pump can cut its heating-related emissions by 45% to 72%, depending on the region. If every single-family home made that switch, it would eliminate about 160 million metric tons of emissions a year — roughly the same as taking 32 million cars off the road.

At Jetson, we’ve built a way to help homeowners move away from gas without the complexity or high cost that usually comes with it. Jetson offers all-electric, smart heat pumps that replace traditional furnaces and water heaters, powered by intelligent software and sensors that optimize comfort and efficiency, all installed in a single day.

With nearly 1,000 systems installed in under 12 months, we’ve shown that making the switch to cleaner heating and cooling can be both practical and scalable. Homeowners save on installation costs and see lower energy bills over time, making it an easy step toward a more modern and resilient home.

The environmental impact is meaningful too. Heat pumps are three to four times more efficient than traditional furnaces, which means they use less energy to keep homes comfortable while dramatically cutting emissions at the same time.

In the long run, our goal is to help electrify the entire home, replacing fossil-fueled systems with clean, connected technology that supports a grid increasingly powered by renewables like wind, solar, and hydro. As the grid itself gets cleaner, everything that runs on electricity becomes cleaner too. Modern electric devices, including heat pumps, EV chargers, and batteries, can even interact dynamically with the grid, using power when it’s plentiful and reducing demand when it’s scarce. That flexibility helps stabilize grids with high shares of renewables and moves us closer to a truly sustainable energy future.

And in many ways, it’s the kind of intelligent, interconnected experience people once imagined as the home of the future — only now, it’s here.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Working at Sunrun, the nation’s largest residential solar company, for seven years showed me that while solar had transformed how we power our homes, the next frontier was how we heat, cool, and electrify them entirely. The challenge wasn’t interest; it was simplicity. If homeowners had an easier way to replace their gas appliances with efficient, electric alternatives, we could cut emissions and energy costs dramatically.

That idea led me to start my own company, Helio Home, with a mission to help homeowners ditch fossil fuels and fully electrify. Over three years, we helped more than 300 homes, proving that people want to make this transition – they just need a simpler way to do it.

Meeting Stephen Lake and the Jetson team was a turning point. After building and selling their previous company to Google, Stephen and his co-founders turned their focus to climate and quickly recognized what I had seen from the field: the HVAC industry was fragmented, outdated, and long overdue for a simpler, connected solution.

Jetson acquired Helio Home soon after, and joining Stephen’s team has allowed us to create a company that can truly make electrification simple. Jetson brings together everything needed to accelerate electrification under one roof: from sourcing equipment directly from factories, to handling permits and rebates with our own software, to using in-house installation teams. Homeowners can get instant online pricing, a quick virtual walkthrough, and installation completed in just one day. It’s a faster, smoother process at about half the cost of similar systems.

Since launching just a year ago, Jetson has installed nearly 1,000 heat pump systems across North America, a clear sign that homeowners are ready for an easier path to electrification. Our goal now is to make it just as seamless for the remaining 100 million households to move from gas furnaces to efficient, all-electric heat pumps.

Building on that momentum, we recently introduced Jetson Air, our new intelligent, all-electric heating and cooling system that makes home electrification even smarter. And with offices now in Vancouver, Colorado, and Massachusetts, we’re preparing to expand into new states to meet growing demand across North America.

Like any startup, it hasn’t been easy. We’ve had to rethink decades of entrenched practices in HVAC, but what keeps us going is our belief that every home we electrify moves us one step closer to a cleaner, more connected future.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
For me, it would be a good balance of experiencing the outdoor beauty of Colorado and the must see sights and sounds of the City. I’d be sure to take them for hikes in the Indian Peak Wilderness area and Rocky Mountain National Park. I’d definitely take a day to explore the FlatIrons near Boulder followed by lunch at a Boulder Brewery and then a stroll down Pearl Street. I’d also take them to the Highlands area of Denver to experiment with some food, and also catch a game downtown whether that be at Coors Field or Ball Arena. I’d also show them some of the more interesting cultural parts of Denver including the Rhino area and must see attractions like Meow Wulf. Finally, you can’t visit the Denver area without spending some time at one of its amazing parks.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d like to dedicate this shoutout to my family. Starting a company is an enormous sacrifice for both the individual starting the company and their family. It would be impossible to take such an enormous leap into the unknown without those who are closest to you not only cheering you on, but also taking on the stress and uncertainty as well. In my case, my wife deserves a lot of the credit. She supported my dreams at every turn, was there for support when I needed her most, and also allowed me an outlet for the frustrations that I couldn’t share with anyone else. Everyone needs someone to complain to, and my wife has played that role for me and looked out for me. I wouldn’t be where I am today without her.
