We had the good fortune of connecting with erika lourenço and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi erika, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Initially, I never imagined myself starting a business. I began selling my drawings with the encouragement of friends, and things started to happen. I saw potential there and dedicated myself to it.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Art has always been appealing to me, but I never thought it would become something concrete in my life. It took me a while to understand that I could belong in this place and make a living out of it. It was only in my last year of design school that this realization hit me. I started to explore and study my artistic language, and I continue to do freelance work and paint things here and there.

I greatly appreciate the subtleties of things. I adore themes that involve the unconscious, intuition, dreams, and especially topics related to women. I have a deep affinity for symbols and the delicate nature of that which is difficult to put into words. I think I enjoy exploring this path because it’s where I easily find myself. It’s where I feel most authentic and confident in expressing anything that I can’t articulate verbally.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Brazil is a very beautiful and vast country, with many incredible places to visit. I live in the south, in Curitiba, where it’s a bit colder. Here, we have many cafes, numerous beautiful parks, and museums. My favorite outings always involve one of these places.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
To all my beloved friends and family.
