We had the good fortune of connecting with Erin Roth and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Erin, where are your from? We’d love to hear about how your background has played a role in who you are today?
I was born and raised in Miami, Florida. In Miami, every day can feel like a fashion show. My mom always made sure my sister and I were the same. We were always inspired to be bold and take life risks- especially in our clothes. Today, I still dress as if it’s my fashion show, going to the store, or school pick-up. Whenever I complete a new and unique look, I feel connected to my Mom.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’ve been fearless my whole life and never accepted the answer no. Even for internships, I would fly from Miami to NYC to make sure they saw my email and wanted to know who I was face to face. In my full-time job, I work as a Senior Business Manager at 1stDibs, and my mom was the one who told me about it, so it feels like she has a hand in everything I do. Judy’s armoire, it’s in honor of my late mom. It gives me so much joy to continue my mom’s legacy, but I wish she were here to enjoy the connections I’m making and the people I’m meeting.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
GOODWILL, GOODWILL, GOODWILL. First, we would grab coffees at Corvus around 8:30 am and hit our first Goodwill on Broadway. Of course, if it’s the weekend, we’ll check out any Estate Sales on the way. The hunt is what I love. I would try to hold off till we have brunch and go to Breakfast Queen. Nothing in the world makes me happier than a good breakfast place, no frills, just good food for the locals. Hit goodwill on the way home. Safta is where it’s at for a dinner on a Saturday night with good cocktails.
I love a good work out and nothing is better than High Righ Cycle, you feel like a different person when you live in a good way and of course on the way while we grab food at Jerusalems.
Of course, during the summertime, we will try to hit up all the farmer’s markets, and people watch and eat street food till were sick .
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
All the credit goes to my late mom, Judy, who inspired me to continue the spirit of shop again. Working on Judy’s Armoire allows me to celebrate my mom daily and continue telling her story while building up the business volume. Maybe one day, I will open a brick-and-mortar store again in her honor!
