We had the good fortune of connecting with Erinne & Juliana and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Erinne & Juliana, is there something you can share with us that those outside of the industry might not be aware of?
One thing about the floral industry outsiders may not know is that it is very physically demanding. Preparing for and working a floral event requires hours upon hours on your feet, it can be hard on your hands, requires a lot of lifting (loading/unloading, etc.), and depending on event, can often times involve scaling ladders.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
We both work full-time jobs outside of In Bloom and one of us is in graduate school. We are really proud of the ways we work hard to balance all things required of us from each of these responsibilities. Like so many people we meet we are juggling being attentive wives, maintaining homes, meeting the expectations of our full-time jobs, excelling in grad work, and making flower dreams come true for our clients! We’ve learned to take things one day and one booking at time. This has helped us ensure each task at hand is getting the absolute best we have to offer! If we could share one thing about our story and our journey it would be, the scary risks are so worth the reward! While it isn’t always easy we’ve loved every part of the process and it has brought us a lot of joy!
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Our weekend trip for the greater Denver area would entail the following:
– Take a day drive to Nederlands, CO: you may catch some sneak peeks of fall colors right now & there is an amazing pizza spot you can grab lunch, Crosscut Pizzeria & taphouse.
– Visit downtown Denver for some evening cocktails & oysters at Stoic & Genuine and play some shuffle board in Union Station!
– Be sure to make a reservation, but Williams & Graham is one of the most impressive and fun speakeasies in Denver right now.
– There are so many fun downtown areas in each city! Some of our favorites are downtown Littleton, CO; downtown Louisville, CO; downtown Lafayette, CO. Coffee shops, book stores, lots of really great small businesses to support! A few of our go-tos: GraceFull Cafe, Thalken, TeoCali, The Read Queen, PoR Wine House, and The Huckleberry.
-Infinite Monkey Theorem in Denver offers a flowers & sip event in the fall where you can cut fresh flowers from their garden, make an arrangement, and have a drink while doing it all with friends. This has been one of our favorite fall activities the last couple of years!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Our husbands deserve an enormous amount of credit for supporting the dream, encouraging each step along the way, and taking so much time to help us renovate our trailer plus assisting with some of our bookings. We couldn’t have better partners!
We would also not be where we are without some incredible Colorado florists that shared knowledge & resources with us along the way: Bethany Siekmeier and Sarah Tedford, thank you so much!
