We had the good fortune of connecting with Farnosh Family and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Farnosh Family, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I started my herbal ghee business once I felt that this was a product that people would benefit from and would enjoy. I experienced first hand how transformative the practices, foods, and herbs of Ayurveda, the traditional form of medicine from India, can be and I wanted to share that with people. I began working with clients one-on-one and I would prepare customized ghee blends for them. For them, it was a great and easy way to get certain herbs into their foods and bring new flavors and tastes to their foods. I loved having this impact on the way people ate and how they were feeling. To me, the more ways we can access foods that are good for us and help us feel like our best selves, the better.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
It’s very exciting having people try my ghee and come back for more. I have loved sharing this with people and seeing their enthusiasm for it too.
What I would want people to know that is that people’s lives, cultures, stories, and families are all connected to their foods. And over history, there has always been movement of foods and spices just as their has been movement of people. As an immigrant myself, that freedom of movement of people and foods and that exchange of ideas and cultural fusion is central to who I am and how I view my products.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
No matter the season, I would visit the Denver Botanic Gardens because there is always something beautiful to see indoors or outdoors, especially now with the art galleries. I would then walk through RiNo and admire all the murals and artistry. For more art, I would make a day of going to the Denver Art Museum and check out exhibits as well as create in their artist studios. For movement, I would take a yoga class at Urban Sanctuary and dance class at Bella Diva World Dance.
For tea, I would check out the selection at TeaLee’s Tea House on 22nd St.
The restaurants on my list are Tarascos Mexican Restaurant on Federal Blvd, Surena Persian Cuisine, and Mango House on Colfax for their wide selection of food from around the world.
At night, I would also check out Meadowlark where you could different DJs or Jazz depending on the night.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Cindy Frigard of Masi Masa has been a tremendous support.
I also go connected to Jessica Cristadoro and Noah Huffer of Food Business Consulting through Naturally Boulder and they have been wonderful to work with and have helped me focus my plans.
Peter and Margo Wanberg of City Park Farmers Market are excellent supporters of small businesses in the Denver community.
