We had the good fortune of connecting with Frank Vargas and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Frank, how did you come up with the idea for your business?
I started in the collections industry at a young age, which later transitioned into helping contractors recover payments for completed work. That experience led to launching a business consulting firm where I saw firsthand the power of providing the right business owners with knowledge, partnerships, and expertise—and the impact it could have on their success. When I later struggled to find a reliable solution for an asphalt and concrete paving job, I had a realization: “If I can’t find it, why not create it myself?”

What should our readers know about your business?
In 2018, I launched Premier Asphalt & Concrete after struggling to find reliable, expert contractors for a paving job we were handling ourselves. Since then, we’ve built a reputation for excellence in asphalt, concrete, sealcoating, and general construction. While tenant finishes, painting, and roofing keep us busy, paving remains a niche-driven industry with seasonal weather challenges but significant opportunities. No matter the project, I always look for ways to adapt, expand, and deliver exceptional service.

Managing multiple trades in construction isn’t easy, and people often ask how we do it—whether it’s the 15- to 18-hour workdays or the passion that fuels us. Personally, the answer is simple: the drive to build something better, safer, more efficient, and visually appealing keeps me fired up for every project.

At Premier, our commitment is clear—top-tier workmanship built on honesty, accountability, and excellence.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Kicking off the weekend and rolling into the week, I’d start with something simple yet classic—visiting the 16th Street Mall, hopping on Lime scooters, and exploring the latest changes in Downtown Denver. While there, we’d stop by the Thirsty Lion for some delicious food and drinks.

Day two? A must-stop at El Jardín restaurant off Highway 2 in Commerce City for authentic traditional Mexican food, followed by a trip to Northfield Shops–Stapleton to catch a show at Denver Improv.

And for the rest of the week? We’d take a drive to a hidden gem—Florissant, Colorado. From thought-clearing walks in this charming small town to great food and thrilling outdoor adventures, it’s well worth checking out. My go-to while there? Taking the ATVs, 4-wheelers, and Can-Ams out to disconnect, soak up the sun by day, and unwind under the stars at night, gathered around a campfire, sharing stories, good times, and life experiences.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to give a shoutout, first and foremost, to my family for all the love, support, encouragement, and patience throughout this business journey.

I’d like to give a second shoutout to Agnes with Agnes Talamantez Carroll & Associates, as she was a huge blessing and help in our starting phases. She saw potential in me early on and was able to instill the needed partnerships, education, leadership, and direction in me to be relentless in taking strategic action. Thank you, Agnes; we greatly appreciate you and your team for what you have done and continue to do for our community!
