We had the good fortune of connecting with Gabby Maldonado and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Gabby, how do you think about risk?
Risk can be scary, change is always intimidating but if you don’t take the chance there is always that “ What if” thought that goes through your head. I started my business risking everything, risking my financial status, risking it failing, I risked it all. I have always been a risk taker because I believe it you don’t take the chance you will regret it. Yes that means you are trusting the situation or circumstances will run smoothly but without taking the chance you will never know. I was a nursing student who realized the medical field was not for me and I decided to take a risk and enroll in an esthetics program. Here I am 8 years later, a licensed esthetician, who has been running her own lash business for 4 years.

What should our readers know about your business?
I am so extremely proud of how far I’ve come as a small business owner. I started from the bottom, lashing in my moms basement practicing and practicing. I was doubted quite a bit along the way, but I didn’t let the noise discourage me. It was not easy, a lot of tears were shed, a lot of classes and trainings were completed, figuring out what kind of space I wanted, what products were the best, the list goes on. I overcame these challenges with the support of my amazing family, close friends in the lash community and believing in myself. There were many times I have been knocked down and discouraged but there was always a bright side to every situation.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
As a Colorado native it is so tough to choose. I absolutely love Breckinridge, you can’t go there without stopping at Crepe Al A Carte! No matter the time of year you go it is absolutely gorgeous and so much fun, but the best time is the fall well unless you are a skier (which I’m one of the natives who never learned). After Breckinridge, Glenwood Springs would be my next stop. The hot springs pool is amazing and the town is so cute! Some of the best food I’ve had there is Italian Underground, as well as Tequilas!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My Family deserves so much credit in my story. They have been my cheerleaders since day 1. My fiancé and step son have been so patient and kind during the ups and downs of starting my business, I’m so impressed with how much they have learned about being a lash artist. My mom and two sisters are forever my lash models, who have given me so many different ideas. They all have given me so much courage through this journey and without all of them I couldn’t of done it.
