Meet Gabrielle Greeves | Former Executive Director, WindWalkers Equine Assisted Learning and Therapy Center, Wellness/Health Coach, Writer, and Consultant to Non Profits

We had the good fortune of connecting with Gabrielle Greeves and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Gabrielle, how do you think about risk?
Risk-taking is an essential aspect of both my personal and professional growth. It involves me stepping outside of my comfort zone and embracing uncertainty in pursuit of potential rewards. In my perspective, risk can be viewed as a necessary component of innovation, resiliency and progress I have desired to make 35 years of projects/ideas form to their potential.
In a career context, taking calculated risks always led me to significant opportunities, such as pursuing new projects (Man Up Campaign- With the UN and in being the ED of WindWalkers Equine Assisted Learning and Therapy Center From 2014-2024) , exploring uncharted markets, or adopting new methodologies. In my eyes, each risk taken provided valuable lessons, whether the outcome was successful or not.
Throughout my career, I have encountered various situations where taking risks has been pivotal; often leading to improved efficiency and effectiveness.
Ultimately, the key to effective risk-taking lies in thorough analysis and preparation. Understanding the potential consequences and having contingency plans in place can help mitigate negative outcomes while still allowing for the possibility of substantial rewards. Balancing caution with the willingness to take risks has been instrumental in shaping my success as a Conusltant, Wellness Coach, and an Executive Director of a Non Profit (for over 34 years).

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
What sets me apart from others is my commitment to fostering meaningful connections and creating a positive impact within my community. I take pride in my ability to listen actively and respond thoughtfully, which has allowed me to build strong relationships with colleagues, clients, and stakeholders. This focus on collaboration and empathy has been a cornerstone of my professional journey.
Reaching my current position has been a multifaceted process that involved both hard work and perseverance. While there have been rewarding moments, the path has not always been easy. I faced various challenges, including navigating complex projects, managing diverse teams, and adapting to rapidly changing environments. To overcome these obstacles, I relied on a combination of resilience, continuous learning, and seeking support from mentors and peers. Embracing a growth mindset has been crucial; I view challenges as opportunities for development rather than setbacks.
Throughout my journey, I have learned several valuable lessons. One of the most important is the significance of adaptability. The ability to pivot and adjust strategies in response to new information or circumstances has proven essential. Additionally, I have come to appreciate the power of teamwork and the diverse perspectives that each individual brings to the table. Collaboration often leads to innovative solutions that I could not have achieved alone.
What I want the world to know about me and my brand is that we are dedicated to making a difference. My story is one of resilence, collaboration, and deep commitment to serving others, and I am excited to continue this journey alongside those who share a similar vision. Play will be a critical component in that.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Depending upon the season that you would come to visit our fair City of Aspen — Aspen in the winter truly offers a remarkable experience for visitors. Skiing on the diverse terrain across four mountains is indeed a must, and enjoying the on-snow restaurants adds a unique touch to the day. You can also take a seat at one of the Beach or Snow Clubs and spray champagne at Cloud Nine!
Cross-country skiing and snowshoeing are excellent ways to explore the beautiful winter landscape, providing a different perspective of the area. After a day of outdoor activities, the après-ski scene at Ajax Tavern, the Mollie, or Gravity Haus is perfect for unwinding and socializing.
Take time to dine at Campo Di Fiore, Cache Cache, Clarke’s or — quickly becoming a favorite is- the new ZigZag Restaurant. Before dinner I would suggest drinks at The Jerome, Little Nell or St.Regis…. the bars offer amazing crafted cocktails and a vibrant- friendly atmosphere to meet people and socialize.
For entertainment, I recommend venues like The Belly Up and Bad Harriet that promise an exciting night out, and it’s good to know that TACAW offers additional options for those willing to drive a bit further.
I would also be remiss if I didn’t mention the Caribou Club – go with a member or make reservations to dine ( and stay to dance); especially with a talented chef like Myles at the helm.
And, lastly, grab some ribs at the end of a big day on the Mountain at Home Team BBQ or Hickory House– two ” finger-licking good places”!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to take this opportunity to express my heartfelt gratitude to my WindWalkers staff, volunteers, Board and families. Over the past 11 years, their unwavering support, dedication, and commitment have been instrumental in shaping my success and the positive impact we have made in the community we served. Especially my Co-Director Beth Gusick. She has inspired me as she was a friend, sister, and colleague.
The collaborative spirit and shared vision of this incredible group have not only fostered a nurturing environment but have also inspired growth and resilience in all of us. Each member has contributed their unique strengths, and their encouragement has been a constant source of motivation.
Additionally, I would like to acknowledge the mentors and leaders who have guided me along this journey. Their wisdom and insights have been invaluable, helping me navigate challenges and seize opportunities like Dr Terry Chase, Dr. Jay Merriam and others.
Together, these individuals and groups have played a crucial role in my story, and I am deeply thankful for their contributions. Their collective efforts remind me that success is rarely a solo endeavor; it is built on the foundation of community and collaboration.
