We had the good fortune of connecting with Galileo Flores and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Galileo, what do you attribute your success to?
As a content creator (photography, videography, DJ Producer) there is a constant fear of not being up to the task, commonly known as “the impostor syndrome”. I remember the stress and pressure while preparing myself for my first paid job which pushed me to spend the entire night reviewing my plans and notes over and over again. The fear of not being ready for a job forced me to work harder to minimize any mistakes and deliver what my clients expected. The lesson I took from that experience is that “innate talent is wonderful, but hard work yields results”. Since then, I try to prepare and work as hard as I can to deliver the best service possible.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Like many other content creators, this started as a hobby. I always enjoyed good stories and one day, while having a crisis of enthusiasm in my 8 to 5 job, I decided to move from a consumer of stories to a storyteller. I bought my first camera and started a process of learning the technical aspects of photography but also the creative concepts to start sharing the stories that mattered to me. Eventually, I found myself unemployed and this passion I found a couple of years before turned into a potential career. It was definitely not easy, but surrounding yourself with people who encourages your passions helped me grow in both skills and confidence. I created Eikon Light, to share visual stories and inspire people to pursue what boosts their happiness, in the end, our time on this planet is so short and we must make the best of it.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I had an awesome time in Denver, but what took me there was dancing. I would suggest exploring the dance scene (Latin, hip-hop, ballroom) and meeting the lovely people of Denver. Another must is visiting the downtown, there are so many good restaurants and bars where you can have a relaxed afternoon. The jewel of the crown to me was the national parks, I visited Rocky Mountain National Park booking easily a tour that took us to visit one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen. Something unexpected was visiting the Staley Hotel, a place that inspire one of my favorite novels and movies “The shining” by Stephen King and Stanley Kubrik respectively.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Someone who has always supported me is one of my best friends, Allison Hrovat, founder of Dance Like a Vegan. This company promotes cruelty-free shoes for dancers, using only synthetic materials that are durable and comfortable.
