Meet Garrett Morris | Owner of Box Buster Sports Cards

We had the good fortune of connecting with Garrett Morris and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Garrett, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I have always dreamed of working in a card shop, having spent much of my childhood enjoying the atmosphere of my local store. Motivated by the desire to pursue my passion and avoid future regret, I decided to take the leap and make this dream a reality. Since opening our business in 2021, we have been fortunate to receive tremendous support from the communities we serve, which has played a key role in our continued success.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
We are a local card shop based in Golden, Colorado, and we proudly opened this location in August of 2024. Since then, we have been fortunate to receive incredible support from the community. Our commitment to exceptional customer service and a diverse product selection sets us apart from other shops.

This marks our third location, and reaching this milestone has been both challenging and rewarding. We began our journey in 2021 with our first store in Durant, Oklahoma. After experiencing great support, we expanded to Montrose, Colorado, in 2022. While we ultimately made the decision to consolidate our operations and close our previous locations to focus on Golden, we will always cherish the friendships and customer relationships we built in those areas. Many of our loyal customers continue to support us, which we truly appreciate.

With the strong support we’ve received in Golden, we are excited for the future and hopeful to remain a part of the community for many years to come.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
As someone who is relatively new to the area, I would start by visiting Red Rocks to enjoy a live performance, as it’s a truly iconic experience. I would also explore some of the local eateries to get a taste of the region’s culinary offerings. Above all, I would prioritize spending quality time with my family, as it’s the moments shared together that truly make a place feel like home.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My wife has been an unwavering source of support throughout this journey, and I truly could not have achieved any of this without her help and sacrifices. Her dedication to our family and her continuous contributions to the success of the business have been invaluable. I am deeply grateful for everything she does and cannot thank her enough for her tireless support.
