Meet Gary Kessler | Photographer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Gary Kessler and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Gary, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I was in the darkroom from the time I could stand becasue my dad was an amateur photographer. Once I was old enough to start shooting , I was shooting nonstop, still shooting for both personal work and commerical and fine art.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I have always shot fine art along with commercial work. Being in the commercial end of the business is always about listening to the clients needs then providing the correct vision for each project. It’s challenging sometimes to come up with a vision that moves them forward, that they can accept and sell to their teams, but it almost always works out in a creative way. I always say positive and loose enough to see what presents itself at a shoot, that they didn’t expect but can use in their projects. That way we come away with the shots the clients need and some fun surprises that they didn’t expect. On the fine art side of the business I am heavily influenced by Ansel Adams, Irving Penn, Hiro, etc.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I could not do what I do without the support of my family who are always understanding when I take off on a project at the last minute. Of course the crews I work with make the jobs go smoothly and all of the people I assisted and worked with on the way to this path.
