We had the good fortune of connecting with Ginger Broderick and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ginger, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I was laid off from my full-time job near the end of the Covid pandemic which left me without a job or income and forced me to decide on the next steps in my life. Having done photography as a creative outlet for decades prior, it was a choice between job hunting again and going back to the same grind that was not satisfying, or following my dreams and starting my business and steering my future.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I have endless ideas and concepts that I can visualize in my mind and materialize into reality. Most of my personal creative projects have a basis in fantasy or avant-garde and often express my feelings and emotions through my art. I have always been a very creative person and dreamer since my youth. I believe this may have come to me from my great-grandfather who was a professional photographer before I was even born, I still have a large collection of his vintage cameras to inspire me to continue to follow my dreams.

The process of starting the business was the largest hurdle since photography and creativity come naturally to me. Friends and family helped launch the business and continue to promote me as much as possible. Taking risks with no guarantee of success was a huge fear, but the fear has subsided now that things have continued to gain traction for me this year.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Depending on what they would like to see and do, I would definitely take them for a hike through nearby Roxborough Park or take a short road trip to the Evergreen area.

Must-try restaurants, starting with breakfast, we would meet at one of the local Bacon Social House locations for a flight of candied bacon and re-envisioned breakfast classics. For lunch, I would take them to Machete Tequila + Tacos near Union Station in Denver for margaritas and some of the best tacos in town. For a formal dinner, I would take them to JING near DTC for delicious Asian fusion inspired food and beautifully presented cocktails in a unique and stunning dining room. Lastly, we would meet up for evening cocktails and small bites at The Lazy Greyhound in downtown Littleton to enjoy the speakeasy-styled environment and spectacular custom cocktails to close the evening.

For a night out, I would recommend checking out Beacon Denver located in RiNo to dance to live DJ’s or chill on in the large outdoor patio. Another location I would take a visiting friend would be to a show at the Church Nightclub located in a 1800’s gothic cathedral turned modern dance club.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Numerous people have been supportive of my dreams to start my business and have helped considerably in the process. One of my best friends, Jett Pennington of Wicked Glamour has been working with me creatively for over 6 years both through friendship and collaboratively as artists. She specializes in avant-garde, fantasy, dark glamour, and special effect makeup. We have worked together on my creative portfolio as Blue Eclipse Photography and in my professional portfolio as Ginger Broderick Photography.

A second person who deserves recognition is my partner, Jason Greashaber, who is also a talented photographer under the name Modified PhotoGraphics. He helped with the business license and helped launch the website. He also helped design and build the studio spaces used for many photography sessions. He frequently assists with lighting and staging during photo shoots as well as post-production editing.

Finally, I would like to thank my family and friends that have always been supportive of my artistic dreams. Many have often filled in as my subject matter for the creative process throughout the years while learning and perfecting my style.
