We had the good fortune of connecting with Greg Atkins and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Greg, what role has risk played in your life or career?
It is impossible to know the exact outcome of a decision when it comes to risk taking but, it is critical in business for growth and success to take risks. Risky business decisions need to be thoughtful , not reckless . What has worked well for me is a planning rule of thumb that I learned during my career in the Army.

I ask myself… what is the goal and is it achievable?

Then I consider:

-Best case scenario
-Worse Case Scenario
-Probable case scenario

I used this approach with great success in the military and use it still in my business decisions . It helps me to process and analyze potential risk outcomes in a logical and linear fashion and decide the criteria for success, before I commit to a course of action. That’s not to say that all of my risk decision have succeeded but I have been comfortable that each was made thoughtfully and we have enjoyed tremendous success considering our humble start

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
We are unique as a medium duty hauler. We fill the gap for residential and small business customers that need small to medium hauling and labor support. We are general haulers and can provide a range of hauling and tailored labor services. From the beginning we have been driven to improve from each job experience, to leave a small footprint and to make the most pleasant experience possible for our customers. and we genuinely enjoy each other on the job site.

Was it easy getting here… No. We started with two small trailers. Made a lot of mistakes. Learned from those mistakes. Continued to press for improvement in our approach and solutions.

OVERVIEW

Atkins Enterprises LTD is a Colorado Limited Liability Company, In April of 2018, Atkins Enterprise launched as a medium duty, general purpose hauling service. Owners/members are Gregory L. Atkins (President) and Ann Kathryn Atkins (Vice President). Atkins Enterprises is licensed to operate, insured and is Veteran owned and family operated.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would want to take them camping. Colorado is the best place in the world to enjoy the great outdoors. Where would I camp? probably north or west into the forest. Locally I definitely would take them to Garden of the Gods and Cave of the winds and the Rodeo

Breakfasts at Cracker Barrel. Lunch at Springs Orleans, La Bella Vita and the Crave, Dinner and Beer at Jack Quinns Irish pub and Texas Road House. Gotta do Ribs at Rudys. I love antique stores so we would visit American Classics Market and

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Atkins Enterprises is a Family business so, I would like to give s “Shout Out” to my family and Team: To my wife, Kitty who was instrumental in moving the idea from concept to reality. To the team, sons, Zack & Matt. My son in law Corey, Our Scheduler, Ashley and our non-family members (Jeni, Lamy, John) for their commitment, hard work… Love you guys . We succeed because of you .
