We had the good fortune of connecting with Hali Murray and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Hali, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
“I would rather play risky than withhold safe security”. There have been a lot of instances in my life where my perception of risk would isolate me from potential rewards. I was so afraid of growing as a person and taking challenges offered to me because I was terrified of the “what if’s” like “what if it doesnt work out” or “what if it screws me over” but I slowly started to evolve into the person I have always wanted to be- careless. Not careless in a bad way, but careless in the most accepting way you could imagine. I have come to terms that everything we do in life can either turn out to be the best decision ever or the worst, but if you never explore those chambers, you will never know what that potential holds. This brings me to what in my life changed to make me want to change my life so drastically? From the girl that barely went to functions, to the girl hosting entire events and planning solo trips to South America on a school night. It was back in 2020 during the peak of the Pandemic, my best friend, Brendon Henshawe, or better known as “B.Henshawe” told me he wanted to start getting more into social media, specifically Tik Tok. Within the first 6 months of just completely embarrassing ourselves because we had no idea what we were doing, we had realized we were way more diligent and inspired to chase what we wanted than a lot of our peers. We had potential that was transpiring beneath the surface, we just had to dig for it.
If we had not taken the risk in 2020 to become dedicated we would never have discovered the potential we both have. It was trial and error for a long time but that is okay. If we would of let our thoughts take over our actions of “what if it doesn’t work and we just look dumb”, Brendon and I would not have gotten where we are today.
Please tell us more about your work. We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about. How did you get to where you are today professionally. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges? What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way. What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
If I had to tell my younger self one thing, it would be that no matter where you come from, there will always be potential to make your life what you want it to be. I get excited about continuing to succeed, learn new things, and flourish. Something that has been learned along the way that has helped me more than anything else is to listen to what you think is your best decision. If you always listen to others, that isn’t going to help you find what you want because you’re not listening to what your heart is telling you, you’re listening to what others are telling you to do. I remember back in 2019 telling a friend of mine I wanted to start Onlyfans and their face sunk. They didn’t support the ideas I had come forth with because they didn’t think I had the potential to achieve. And to keep it simple, the joke is on them now.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Hands down the person I have to give all recognition to is B.Henshawe, “Henny” or whatever nickname you chose works accordingly, he accepts everything but Brendon… he tends to stir away from that one 😉 If it wasn’t for Henny, I would never have been encouraged to be where I am today. The days I felt I couldn’t get out of bed and I didn’t feel beautiful or confident to make Tiktoks or shoot for instagram, he has always been there giving me an extra hand.
